The Innovation Solutions Lawyer is a member of the Knowledge & Innovation team, working at the intersection of law, technology, and process design to transform how legal work is performed and legal services are delivered. They are a former practicing attorney with big-law litigation experience who brings legal judgment, creativity, and technical fluency to build governed, practice-ready solutions. They will work closely with the K&I Lawyers, practice groups, developers and other Digital & Technology members to design, build, and deploy solutions that elevate and expedite the performance of legal tasks and delivery of legal services.

What You Will Do:

  • Support the Knowledge & Innovation group in executing the firm's strategy to advance legal practice efficiency and client service delivery through innovative solutions.

  • Partner with K&I Lawyers and practice group attorneys to translate legal and business requirements into functional, compliant workflows in firm-approved AI and legal tech platforms.

  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and feedback sessions with attorneys and paralegals to validate product direction.

  • Design workflows, prototypes, and wireframes for digital solutions, working closely with the appropriate K&I and Digital & Technology team members.

  • Test and refine digital solutions based on user feedback to ensure they are practice-ready and scalable, serving as the first-line technical lead during pilots and rollouts.

  • Document all builds, configurations, and prompts, and define success criteria to ensure responsible AI use and data governance standards are met.

  • Develop training materials, documentation, and other user-facing support resources for the digital solutions.

  • Monitor performance, analytics, and user adoption to drive continuous improvement.

  • Develop and maintain expertise in the firm's core practice applications and generative AI legal technologies.

  • Stay current on generative AI and legal technology and industry trends to keep the firm at the forefront of responsible technology use .

Who You Are:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school required.

  • A minimum of 4 years prior experience in a litigation/disputes/investigations practice in a large law firm or inhouse legal department.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related analytical field is advantageous in addition to legal qualifications.

  • 2+ years of experience in legal technology, product implementation, consulting, or AI-enabled workflows preferred.

  • Familiarity with low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Power Automate, Copilot Studio) a plus.

  • Experience or strong familiarity with Generative AI tools, prompt engineering, their application in legal workflows, and related ethical/usage considerations required.

  • Skills and experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Excel, Teams, Box, iManage, Tableau (or QlikView, Microsoft Power BI) and Microsoft Office.

  • Proven ability to apply legal reasoning and judgment to technology-enabled workflows; comfortable engaging directly with partners and lawyers at all levels on practice-specific requirements.

  • Strong understanding of large law firm workflows and professional obligations; able to translate legal reasoning into structured, technology-driven processes.

  • Professional maturity, initiative, and intellectual agility; a self-starter who contributes ideas and takes ownership of outcomes.

  • Experience configuring automation, workflow, or AI tools in a professional services setting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with comfort engaging lawyers and technologists.

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new applications.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, customer orientation, and ability to influence across teams and practice groups and communicate effectively with all levels of the firm in a professional manner.

  • Project management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and execute tasks, multitask and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to effectively manage work to high quality standards, with a meticulous eye for detail.
