Machine Operator - 2nd Shift
4:30PM START
POSITION SUMMARY
The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on assigned machines. The Machine Operator III is also responsible for inspecting parts and adjusting or completing tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications. This position also assists with setting up and operating production equipment while following established procedures and guidelines, and adjusting machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum age 18 years old.
  • Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of company assets.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, or flexible schedule as required.
  • Ability to work with all functional team members.
  • Effective communication skills and problem solving.
  • Ability to lift, push, or move 10-15lbs.
  • Ability to climb, bend, or squat when necessary to navigate machinery.
  • Repeated standing and walking.
  • Frequent exposure to water, steam, and heat.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Proficient in operating and troubleshooting multiple pieces of equipment efficiently.
  • Perform package change over on multiple pieces of equipment.
  • Performs necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on assigned equipment.
  • Operates assigned equipment and monitors equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops.
  • Communicates with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials.
  • Maintain logs and required records.
  • Notify management of any source loss or misuse, including bad labels, product, etc.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their usage, basic troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Performing routine minor maintenance on equipment unless it is determined the maintenance department is needed.
  • Monitoring and assessing performance of yourself to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • The ability to adjust the controls of a machine quickly and repeatedly to exact positions.
  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem.
