Machine Operator 1st & 2nd Shifts - Role Description

Job Title: Machine Operator

Department: Production

Position: Hourly, non-exempt

Reporting To: Production Supervisor

Location: Dothan, AL

Description

The Machine Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and make adjustments, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications. Machine Operator Experience Required.

Duties and Responsibilities

โ€ข Set up and operates a production machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines

โ€ข Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment

โ€ข Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion

โ€ข Operate tools in order to aid in the manufacturing process

โ€ข Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery

โ€ข Overseeing training of new or Junior Machine Operators

โ€ข Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops

โ€ข Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials

โ€ข Troubleshoot issues and perform maintenance

โ€ข Perform quality control, follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and report problems to supervisor

โ€ข Comply with all safety and health regulations

โ€ข Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in work area

โ€ข Cross train as directed in other production areas.

Required Skills & Experience

โ€ข Previous machine operator experience in a manufacturing facility

โ€ข Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment

โ€ข Proficiency with hand tools

โ€ข Must be detail-oriented

โ€ข Knowledge of production and plant processes

โ€ข Ability to follow written and oral instructions

โ€ข Strong written and verbal communicator

โ€ข Ability to work in a team environment

โ€ข Willingness to work in shifts (late or early hours, weekends, and overtime if necessary)

โ€ข Well organized, creative problem solver

โ€ข Self-motivated and capable of operating with minimal supervision

โ€ข Reliable individual with an excellent time and attendance record
