What is a healthcare assistant?

Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) are trained professionals who support nurses, doctors, and other healthcare staff in providing care to patients. Their duties typically include helping patients with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, and eating, as well as taking vital signs, making beds, and maintaining a clean environment. HCAs play a vital role in hospitals, care homes, and community settings, ensuring patients are comfortable and their basic needs are met. Healthcare Assistants often encounter challenges such as managing a high patient workload, balancing multiple tasks, and adapting to the varying needs of patients. They must remain calm and organized when the ward gets busy, especially during shift changes or emergencies.
