Job Summary and Qualifications

Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct individualized and goal directed care for the patient population served on the unit, accepting assignments from the nursing staff that commensurate with Techโ€™s experience, knowledge and ability.

What you will do in this role:

  • Participates in multidisciplinary approach to management of pain for the patient under the direction and supervision of the licensed staff
  • Participates in multidisciplinary approach to improve communication among caregivers for the patient under the direction and supervision of the licensed staff
  • Participates in multidisciplinary approach to decrease hospital acquired conditions under the direction and supervision of the licensed staff
  • Participates in multidisciplinary approach to improve throughput for all patients from bed assignment to arrival to room with the goal of <60 minutes and a stretch time of 30 minutes under the direction and supervision of the licensed staff
  • Participates in multidisciplinary, discharge planning under the direction and supervision of the licensed staff
  • Ensures a safe environment for the patient.
  • Participates in teaching the patient and family under the direction and supervision of the licensed staff
  • Participates in continuing education and in-service training in order to maintain current knowledge/skills to perform job responsibilities
  • Performs blood sugar checks and vital signs
  • Answers the telephone and nurse call system, takes messages and directs call as needed. Acts as a receptionist for unit patients and visitors.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • High School Graduate / GED
