Wellnest Business Development Intern

Wellnest Fertility

Ogden, UT

Internship

Posted 13 days ago

Job description

We are a mission-driven fertility clinic platform that will leverage technology and innovation to provide a best-in-class care experience. The company seeks to be the fertility clinic of choice for patients who are not satisfied with the experiences or outcomes of the available providers in their specific geographies (if there are any providers in their geographies at all). The result will be a national network of branded clinics that attracts thousands of IVF patients annually. We intend for the business to redefine the ART treatment experience, eventually contributing to solving the significant disparity between the number of patients who seeking ART, and the number who have access to the procedures due to inefficiently managed clinics and the limited numbers of REIs nationally.

About Wellnest

Wellnest is building the future of fertility access in America, starting with underserved markets that have been left behind by the existing system. Our first clinic in Ogden, Utah, proved the model: a purpose-built, de novo fertility platform combining world-class clinical care, modern technology, and operational excellence.

Now we're opening a satellite clinic in Salt Lake City, bringing Wellnest's care to a new population of patients. We're excited to bring someone on board to help us build it.

The Role

This is an 80/20 role: 80% business development, 20% startup generalist.

You will be in the field every day, meeting with OBGYNs, primary care physicians, and other referring providers across Salt Lake City, building the referral relationships that will drive patients into our new clinic.

This is not a desk job. You'll be our face in the field, building Wellnest's reputation one physician's office at a time. If you love people, love sales, and love the idea of making fertility care more accessible, this role was written for you.

You'll report directly to the founding team and have real ownership from week one.

What You'll DoBusiness Development (80%)
  • Hit the field daily, visiting OBGYN offices, primary care clinics, and other referring providers across Salt Lake City to introduce Wellnest and build referral relationships.

  • Own a territory. Map out your target providers, plan your weekly routes, and track every touchpoint.

  • Bring materials to life. Drop off leave-behinds, host lunch-and-learns, and make Wellnest the name every provider in Salt Lake City thinks of first when a patient needs fertility care.

  • Build and maintain a CRM of provider contacts, referral status, and relationship notes.

  • Identify opportunities. Flag gaps in coverage, providers who are warm but not yet referring, and new channels we haven't tapped.

  • Report back to the team weekly with field insights, pipeline updates, and what's working.

Startup Generalist (20%)
  • Support clinic launch logistics for the Salt Lake City satellite clinic—whatever needs doing, you do it.

  • Help coordinate patient events, community outreach, and local marketing activations.

  • Contribute to how Wellnest shows up in the Salt Lake City community, including brand presence, local partnerships, and social content when relevant.

  • Jump into research, operations, and special projects as they arise.

What You'll Learn
  • B2B healthcare sales: how to build a referral network from scratch and convert physician relationships into patient volume.

  • How a de novo fertility clinic gets launched in a new market—from the inside.

  • Patient acquisition and funnel-building in a high-stakes clinical setting.

  • How to work alongside physicians, nurses, and the founding operators of a venture-backed startup.

  • What it means to work in a real startup environment: fast decisions, limited resources, and the creative problem-solving that comes from building something from scratch.

  • What real ownership looks like. You won't be watching from the sidelines—you'll carry your own territory, make judgment calls, and see the direct impact of your work on the clinic's growth.

Who You Are
  • A people person. You light up a room, build rapport instantly, and are genuinely excited to meet new people every day.

  • Organized and self-directed. You can manage a territory, track your pipeline, and follow up without being reminded.

  • Passionate about fertility, women's health, or healthcare access. You care about what Wellnest is building—not just the internship line on your résumé.

  • A current undergraduate or graduate student, or a recent graduate. Major is open; we care more about drive and judgment than your transcript.

  • Warm, professional, and emotionally intelligent. Many of our patients are in a vulnerable chapter of their lives, and that context shapes how we show up everywhere—including in provider offices.

  • Have a reliable car, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record. You will be on the road every day across Salt Lake City.

  • Bonus: Prior experience in sales, healthcare, or a patient-facing role. Experience with Canva, Notion, or CRM systems is a plus.

Logistics

Location: Field-based across Salt Lake City, with a home base at the Wellnest SLC satellite clinic.

Timing: Summer 2026, full-time (~40 hours/week) for 10–12 weeks. Start and end dates are flexible around your schedule.

Compensation: Paid internship with performance-based sales bonuses tied to referral volume.

Beyond the paycheck:

As an early employee, you will be a critical part of our core team and influence the direction of the company. We offer competitive compensation, early-stage equity, a full suite of benefits, and we will invest in your career development.
