Job Description:
The Risk Assessment Core is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher for a two-year position focused on human health and ecological regulatory risk assessment. This role offers an exceptional career trajectory for individuals aiming for long-term professional placement in the regulatory or risk assessment sectors. Working closely with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Florida Department of Health, the successful candidate will provide critical technical and scientific support. Key responsibilities include evaluating the technical validity of existing risk assessments, deriving health-based target levels for soil, groundwater, and food, and leading training initiatives for agency personnel.
The successful applicant will possess excellent oral communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects efficiently. Required Qualifications:
  • PhD in biology, toxicology, or related field
  • Interest in a career in environmental risk assessment

Preferred:
  • A foundational background in regulatory risk assessment
  • Ability to draft publication-ready manuscripts with minimal editorial oversight.
  • Familiarity with the concepts of Bayesian benchmark dose (BMD) modeling
