Job description

LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH St. Mary's County Health Department
21580 Peabody Street
Leonardtown, MD 20650
Main Purpose of Job
The primary purpose of this full-time position will be to process electronic medical records and provide vital records such as birth and death certificates while protecting patient confidentiality. This position will also provide front desk office support for the agency. Additionally, this position requires in-person and phone customer service skills when assisting patients/clients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience compiling and maintaining health records.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute additional experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Medical Record classifications or Patient Administration Specialists and Health Services Management specialty codes in the health records management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess:
  • Medical records experience
  • Customer service experience

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for this classification must demonstrate the ability to type at a minimum speed of 20 words per minute.
