Job description

California Institute of Health & Social Services/ United Mental Health Promoters is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Bi-lingual Mental Health Promoters (UMHP).

This is a unique opportunity to advocate for mental health awareness, provide vital support to underserved communities, and drive meaningful change.

RESPONSIBILITIES:As a Mental Health Promoter, you will:

Conduct outreach and engagement activities to connect with individuals in need.

Facilitate individual and community advocacy to raise awareness and promote services.

Lead group facilitation and case management efforts to provide support.

Provide referrals and linkages to essential mental health and social services.

Collaborate with internal and external partners, including the Department of Mental Health (DMH), county agencies, and community organizations.

Maintain accurate documentation of service plans and program outcomes, ensuring compliance with agency policies.

Travel within local neighborhoods and communities to serve and engage residents.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience, education, or special training in business, communications, criminal justice, social work, or social psychology.

Strong computer and documentation skills, including dictation.

A commitment to advocacy and support for abused youth, justice-involved individuals, and parolees, aligned with the mission of California Institute of Health & Social Services (CIHSS).

Lived experience in a culturally diverse setting, particularly with at-risk youth, survivors of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Youth (CSECY), and marginalized communities.

High school diploma or GED required; additional training or education in a related field is a plus.

Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must pass state-mandated background screenings, including DOJ, FBI, and Child Abuse Check Index (CACI) fingerprinting.

First Aid & CPR certification required (can be completed within days after hire).

Health Screening and TB test required before employment.

Must possess a valid CA Driver's License and current Auto Insurance

Must sign the Criminal Record Statement and Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Suspected Child Abuse.
