Who we are looking for:
ASCO is in search of a talented high-velocity, full-spectrum creator to join our Integrated Marketing and Communications (ICM) Department. The successful hire will be responsible for the development of ASCO and Conquer Cancer storytelling assets managing the full scope of content production, including copywriting, graphics, and video to ensure delivery of cohesive messaging and visual assets.

This position is hybrid with a primary location at our headquarters in Alexandria, VA. The hire must reside within 75 miles of our headquarters.
Responsibilities
  • Develop integrated content packages that include short-form copywriting, static graphics, and motion assets for ASCO and Conquer Cancer social media, email, web, and digital advertising.
  • Partner with Digital Content Strategy Partner, marketing strategists, and stakeholders to translate approved content plans into distinct, actionable asset packages.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications staff and other stakeholders to align copy, graphics, and video content with broader organizational goals and campaigns.
  • Draft and edit compelling, brand-aligned copy for various digital formats, ensuring that complex scientific concepts are translated into engaging, accessible language.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts within the organization to validate content ensuring it is accurate and reflective of ASCO and Conquer Cancer programs and goals.
  • Record and edit simple video content using mobile and studio-based tools to support marketing campaigns.
  • Leverage approved AI tools to execute assignments efficiently and responsibly as appropriate.
  • Tailor content versions for various digital channels to ensure maximum engagement and platform fit.
  • Visually convey complex scientific concepts, patient stories, and organizational initiatives in a creative and compelling manner.
  • Provide tactical feedback on assets delivered by external vendors to ensure formatting, copy, and visual style align with project goals and organizational templates.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, advancements, and discussions in healthcare and oncology to identify relevant topics and conversations for content creation.
  • Ensure all multimedia assets are organized and tagged within the organization Digital Asset Management System (DAMS).

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Strategic Communications, Marketing, Digital Arts or related field or equivalent years of experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a marketing agency, internal marketing department, or Association as a digital content creator
  • Experience with AP Style
  • Proven experience in storytelling and creating engaging content for digital channels
  • Excellent written communication skills, with high attention to detail/accuracy and the ability to translate scientific concepts into accessible and engaging content
  • Expertise in content creation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
  • Knowledge of project management and content workflow tools

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Previous experience using a Digital Asset Management System (DAMS).
  • Familiarity with cancer/science/health and experience in health or science sectors.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven content creation and editing tools.
  • A creative and innovative mindset with an ability to think outside the box.
  • Experience in project managing multiple programs with rapid timelines.
  • Passion for using digital media to make a positive impact in conquering cancer.

Compensation
This is an exempt position. The hiring salary range for this position is $80,000-$96,900 annualized.
The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum annualized salary ASCO expects to provide for a new hire for the position across the U.S. We thoughtfully determine and design offers based on the selected candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
