Job description

TITLE: SHIPPING AND RECEIVING CLERK
DAY SHIFT: MONDAY THRU FRIDAY 9:00 AM TO 6:00 PM
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: SR. MANAGER, OPERATIONS SUPPORT
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Operations Support, the Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving, cataloging, and distributing shipments across all departments and buildings withing the Company; continuously maintains a clean and organized shipping area; plans for large shipments to ensure adequate space and sufficient storage are available; uses various software applications to ship boxes, letters, and overnight shipments such as FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc.; troubleshoots shipment issues such as items not received, returned, or missing to ensure customer service expectations are met. The position is located in Milpitas, CA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Receives, logs, and distributes shipments across all departments and buildings
  • Maintains a clean and organized shipping area; orders shipping supplies including boxes, envelopes, etc.
  • Plans for large shipments to ensure adequate space and sufficient storage are available on the receiving dock or shipping area
  • Uses various software applications FedEx DHL, or UPS to ship boxes, letters, and overnight items; tracks shipments to ensure receipt
  • Troubleshoots shipment issues such as items not received, lost or stolen shipments, or returned items; ensures customer service expectations are met for delivery or shipment
  • Operates a forklift or pallet jack to move or store large shipments; lifts heavy items using appropriate lifting techniques
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures as required
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level*

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diplomas or GED
  • Two years of hands' on experience working in a warehouse or shipping center
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and ability to ship, receive, inventory, and distribute shipments and materials across departments or buildings
  • Knowledge and ability to use shipping applications such as FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc., to ship letters, packages, or boxes
  • Knowledge and ability to use a forklift or pallet jacket to move items within the shipping area
  • Able to maintain a clean and organized shipping area
  • Able to use critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and resolve shipment issues
  • Able to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to multitask
  • Able to comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • Flexible and able to prioritize
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk or works primarily in an indoor environment from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. May work outside from time-to-time to receive shipments on the loading/receiving dock. The schedule may be altered from time-to-time to meet business or operational needs; may travel from building-to-building as needed. May be exposed to a variety of physical conditions such as fumes, chemicals, odors, dust, gases, or have close proximity to mechanical/moving parts; stands, sits, and walks; performs various fine grasping movements, bends, and twists; operates a computer and enters information using a keyboard, operates a telephone, and other office equipment. May occasionally push, pull, or lift up to 50 or more pounds.
The hourly rate for this full-time position is between $26.00-$38.00 + bonus target + benefits. Within the range the individual pay may differ depending on additional factors including job responsibilities, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience. The hourly pay range shown is subject to change and may be modified periodically.
