Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Service Technician with the ability to Program, Troubleshoot, Install and Service various types of Life Safety Solution Devices to join our team! These systems include Access Control, Security Systems, Fire Alarm Systems and Video Surveillance.  


Responsibilities/Duties:

  •  Clear and professional handling of customer interactions.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues verbally and in electronic form.
  • Works with the Service department effectively in order to solve customer requests.
  • Prompt return of Service paperwork for billing and follow up purposes. 
  • Programming of Multiple system brands and types: Fire Alarm, Intercom, Security, Access Control, CCTV.
  • Troubleshooting wire faults, fiber networks, and device problems on existing facilities. 
  • Programming and Troubleshooting IP and POTS monitoring equipment. 
  • Provides technical assistance to T&I/Service technicians. 
  • Head-End, Programming, and Testing on sub-contracted jobs. 
  • Responsible for job-site cleanliness. 
  • Ensure life safety systems are fully operational prior to leaving sites. 
  • Works in compliance with the company’s safety policies at all times. 
  • All documentation, field updates and communication must be punctual & complete.
  • All work is performed to National Codes & standards and quality testing techniques are practiced.

Service Role:

  1. Programming of Multiple system brands and types: Fire Alarm, Intercom, Security, Access Control, CCTV.
  2. Troubleshooting wire faults, fiber networks, and device problems on existing facilities.
  3. Programming and Troubleshooting IP and POTS monitoring equipment. 
  4. Technical assistance to T&I/Service technicians.
  5. Head-End, Programming, and Testing on sub-contracted jobs.
  6. Configure and maintain network connectivity for life safety devices using TCP/IP, switches, routers, and VLANs to ensure reliable communication between field devices, servers, and monitoring stations.


Site management:

a. Site cleaned and returned to superior condition.

b. Site and company equipment locked and secured.

c. Life safety systems fully operational when leaving site.


Daily detailed work order notes completed, including indications for:

a. Status of system or service call.

b. Equipment used or needed.

c. Accurate time accounts for all associated work performed.

d. Any critical deficiencies or systems that are inoperable.


Accountability:  

The Service Technician will be directly accountable to Service Management. Secondary accountability will be to Executive team members, and customers of the company.  


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge:

• NICET or Comparable systems Certifications is strongly preferred.

• Competency working on equipment from multiple Fire and life safety system manufacturers.

• 5+ years working in the industry.

• Proper hand and power tool operations and safety.

• Ability to read blue prints and schematics.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex life safety systems.

• Advanced computer and network skills.

• Confidence in working on all Head-End equipment.

• Understanding of NFPA 72, NFPA 70, IBC, IFC, IMC.


Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under little supervision.

• Ability to finish projects.

• Ability to organize workload for effective implementation.

• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

• Strong customer service and results orientation.

• Ability to function as an effective team member.


Physical Requirements: 

• Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

• Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.


Work Locations: Multiple Locations


Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour


Expected Hours: No less than 40 per week
