We are looking for a talented Director of US Supply Chain to build and lead the U.S. supply chain function for high-reliability space hardware programs. This role will establish the operating model for strategic procurement, supplier management, contract manufacturer engagement, materials planning, supplier quality interface, and supply chain risk management. The ideal candidate brings strong aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics supply chain experience, practical leadership judgment, and the ability to create scalable processes that support program execution without unnecessary bureaucracy.
What you will be doing
- Build and lead the U.S. supply chain function supporting space hardware programs from early program planning through procurement, build, test, and delivery.
- Develop the operating model for strategic sourcing, supplier management, procurement execution, materials planning, contract manufacturer coordination, and supply chain risk management.
- Lead qualification, onboarding, and governance of Contract Electronics Manufacturers (CEMs), contract manufacturers, and other critical suppliers.
- Partner with Engineering, Product Assurance, Quality, Program Management, Finance, Legal, and global site leadership to align supplier strategy with program needs and customer requirements.
- Establish practical supplier governance, including supplier selection criteria, flowdown expectations, scorecards, operating reviews, KPIs, and escalation paths.
- Support negotiation and management of supplier agreements, statements of work, purchase orders, change activity, performance terms, and business commitments in partnership with Legal and Finance.
- Drive visibility into long-lead materials, shortage risks, supplier capacity, lead-time assumptions, cost exposure, and procurement readiness for major program milestones.
- Help define and implement right-sized MRP/ERP/PLM processes, master-data discipline, supplier data handoffs, and material-status reporting for the U.S. site.
- Build a phased staffing and capability plan for the supply chain organization, including buyers, planners, supplier management, and contract manufacturer support as the site scales.
- Brief site leadership on supply chain health, supplier risk, procurement status, material constraints, and decisions needed to support program execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, operations, or a related discipline; advanced degree a plus.
- 12+ years of supply chain, procurement, supplier management, operations, or materials management experience in aerospace, defense, space, electronics manufacturing, or another high-reliability hardware environment.
- Senior leadership experience building, leading, or transforming supply chain, procurement, supplier management, materials, or operations functions in a growing or multi-site organization.
- Demonstrated experience managing critical suppliers or contract manufacturers supporting complex hardware programs, preferably including electronics, printed circuit assemblies, box-build, or space-grade hardware.
- Strong understanding of procurement execution, supplier qualification, supplier flowdowns, long-lead material management, purchase order discipline, and supplier-driven schedule risk.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to support program milestones, design releases, BOM reviews, supplier readiness, cost control, and customer or executive reporting.
- Working knowledge of MRP, ERP, PLM, supplier portals, BOM/master-data workflows, and material planning tools such as IFS, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Agile, or similar systems.
- Familiarity with AS9100 supplier management expectations and relevant aerospace, defense, space, or electronics manufacturing requirements.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with executives, suppliers, customers, engineering teams, quality teams, and program leaders.
Advantages
- Direct experience standing up a U.S. site supply chain function, supplier management organization, or operations function in a multi-site aerospace or high-reliability hardware company.
- Experience onboarding and managing Contract Electronics Manufacturers (CEMs), EMS providers, PCB fabricators, or other critical manufacturing partners for high-reliability electronics.
- Experience with supplier scorecards, material shortage management, procurement dashboards, S&OP, production planning, or program controls interfaces.
- Experience supporting AS9100 audits, supplier surveillance, source inspection, First Article Inspection, counterfeit prevention, or customer flowdown requirements.
- Working knowledge of ITAR/EAR, export-controlled procurement, domestic sourcing requirements, or U.S. government customer expectations.
- APICS/CPIM/CSCP, CPSM, PMP, Lean/Six Sigma, or comparable certification a plus.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Benefits at Ramon.Space include medical, dental, vision, PTO, holidays, FSAs, 401(k) match, short term and long-term disability, and parental leave.
- Flexible hybrid working model with opportunities for remote work. The office is located in the Denver Tech Center.
- Collaborative and innovative work environment. Opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Be part of a pioneering team in the satellite communication industry.
- Due to export regulations, U.S. citizenship or U.S. person status may be required.
