This is a part-time, 10-month position. For part-time employees, total hours worked must be equal to or less than 29 hours per week. Upon a successful evaluation, you will be considered for contract renewal. Evening and weekend work is required as job duties demand.
Compensation: $8,000-$12,000
JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Coach reports directly to the Head Coach. The person in this position is responsible for assisting in the skill instruction of student-athletes, supervising all practices and contests, recruiting academically and athletically qualified student-athletes, and conducting all activities within the rules and regulations of Ramapo College, the NCAA, NJAC, and other conferences.
Examples of Duties
DUTIES:

• Primary responsibility is to work with the pitching staff.
• Responsible for all facets of coaching pitchers (i.e., create a development program as it pertains to mechanics, strength and stamina, in-game situations, and mental game.
• Prepare practice plan for the pitching staff.
• Assist Head Coach.
• Strategize and prepare game day scouting reports on opponents.
• Responsible for teaching, instructing, developing, and directing student-athletes in the sport-specific skills of softball.
• As a coach, you are responsible for adhering to all college and departmental rules and regulations during day and overnight trips; this includes ensuring no alcoholic beverage consumption by any member of the program, as well as any drugs or NCAA-banned substances.

• You will ASSIST in carrying out the following duties as indicated by your head coach:
  1. Individual player skill development.
  2. Identify and recruit academically and athletically qualified students (High School contests and tournaments)
  3. Assist with monthly, weekly, and daily practice plans.
  4. Supervision of practices and contests.
  5. Assist with post-game reports on team and personal performances
  6. Opponent analysis and preparation (Reviewing and Analyzing film)
  7. Assist in monitoring the academic progress of athletes, including organizing team study sessions and follow up with players on all academic progress reports received by the athletic office.
  8. Supervise closely the requirement that all players complete the college physical examination and all related paperwork before any participation can occur.
  9. Work closely with Athletic Trainer for the care and prevention of athletic injuries.
  10. Work closely with the Sports Performance Coordinator with fitness and conditioning programs
  11. Monitor the distribution, use, and return of equipment.
  12. Development and implementation of clinics, tournaments, and summer camps.
  13. Travel Coordination.
  14. Maintain a positive rapport with the college community and alumni.
  15. Raise funds as necessary and coordinate with the Head Coach and the Athletic Director.
  16. Assist with Game Day planning and set up.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and assist in setting up game/field equipment.

• Must be able to demonstrate sport-specific skills and actively participate in practice activities.

• Have knowledge of and ability to instantly implement Athletics' Emergency Medical Plan.

• Note: You are accountable for knowing all the policies and procedures in the Ramapo Coaches Handbook, as well as NCAA and Conference regulations.

• Additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Director of Athletics.

• Must pass the NCAA Coaches exam with an 85%

• First Aid / CPR / AED Certified

• Certified Van Driver / Transportation Safety
