Job description

Position Summary:
The Plant Training Specialist is responsible for the design, development, and execution of a wide variety of Learning & Development processes, programs, systems, and performance support materials. This role facilitates and flawlessly executes Learning & Development events with professionalism, enthusiasm, energy, and precision. Responsibility for functioning as expert user of various Learning & Development systems such as: LMS, LCMS, Learning Design software, and Project Management software. This role will work cross-functionally with other departments, facilities, contractors, members of the L&D Team, and other Key Stakeholders as needed on Enterprise-Level projects and training rollouts.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Designs Learning Content that facilitates knowledge transfer (eLearning, Instructor-Led Training Classes, Virtual Training, Observations, Evaluations, Knowledge Tests, etc.) that is Learner-Focused, engaging, highly interactive, and easily applied to job functions. Maintains functional-level knowledge of Learning Development Software (Articulate 360, Alchemy Creator, etc.) and Audio/Video editing software (Adobe, Camtasia, Final Cut Pro, etc.). Utilize knowledge of various Learning Methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, Agile, etc.) to evaluate current training offerings, make necessary enhancements, and develop new learner-focused training offerings that meet the ever-changing business needs.
  • Work w/ Subject Matter Experts to gather necessary information to revise, create, or enhance performance support documents (SOP's, Job Aids, OPL's, Theory of Operations, etc.) that supports the effective build of learning content. Ability to develop technical skills outside of their comfort level that enhance their ability to facilitate and develop training classes/events.
  • Execute the training project life cycle with a high degree of expertise and efficiency from end-to-end to include Needs Assessment, Project Charter, budget adherence, project timelines, KPIs, and Measurement and Evaluation (i.e., Kirkpatrick Model).
  • Facilitates higher-level classes in Functional Excellence (Certified Trainer, Chemical Safety Training, Pump/Mill Training) and Leadership Effectiveness (Emerging Leader training, Frontline Leader training). Provides material/expertise for Learning & Development events that engages and equips the audience and supports the desired outcome.
  • Utilize knowledge of A/V equipment, shot composure, lighting, sound, framing, etc. to capture pictures/videos needed to develop training materials. Work with SMEs as needed to capture assets that reinforce company policies and procedures, maintain brand integrity, and bring the training to LIFE.
  • Coordinator duties as required.

Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred - equivalent industry-level certification a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in a professional Learning & Development role.
  • Demonstrated capability of technical expertise (Microsoft Suite, Articulate 360, Adobe Software, etc.), project management capabilities.
  • Outstanding communication skills - written and verbal.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Must be skilled in facilitating meetings and/or learning events in face-to-face and/or virtual environments.
  • Knowledge of various facilitation methods and techniques is a must.
  • Must be highly skilled in designing various performance support materials and other learning assets (role plays, self-assessments, training manuals, job aids, etc.) that align with the desired learning, behavioral, or business outcome.
  • Must be able to work cross-functionally with other departments, facilities, contractors, members of the L&D Team, and other Key Stakeholders.
  • Must possess a functional knowledge of various communication technologies and their applications (video conferencing, web-conferencing, audience response systems, presentation software, etc.).
