Job description

At Range, we're building towards a world where anyone can live the financial life they imagine for themselves. If that sounds like a mission you want to be a part of, let's create it together.
We're building AI-powered wealth management. Investments, taxes, retirement, estate planning, all in one platform instead of scattered across different advisors and apps. We're backed by Google's Gradient Ventures, Cathay Innovation, Scale Venture Partners, and more. We're growing fast while still small enough that everyone's work is visible and impactful.
About the Role
As Head of People, you will own the full People strategy at Range as we scale. This role is responsible for building a high-functioning People organization, setting clear standards for how we hire, develop, and manage talent, and partnering closely with the CEO and executive team on organizational effectiveness.
You will design scalable people systems, lead through complexity, and serve as a trusted advisor on high-impact decisions related to performance, leadership, and culture.
What You'll Do
  • Own and execute Range's People strategy in support of business goals and rapid growth
  • Partner with the CEO and executive leadership on org design, workforce planning, and leadership development
  • Build and lead the internal HR team, setting clear ownership, expectations, and operating rhythms
  • Design and operate performance management systems, review cycles, calibration, and manager enablement
  • Establish consistent practices for employee relations, investigations, and performance outcomes
  • Define what is owned internally vs. by managers vs. outsourced partners (PEO, vendors)
  • Serve as the final decision-maker on complex people matters, balancing business needs, culture, and risk
  • Act as a culture steward, ensuring Range's values and operating principles scale with the organization

What Success Looks Like
  • 12+ years of experience
  • Range people managers are confident, well-supported, and consistent in people decisions
  • Performance cycles are clear, fair, and well-executed
  • HR operates proactively, not reactively
  • Leadership has visibility into org health, metrics, talent risks, and engagement trends
  • The People function scales smoothly as the company grows
  • Experience scaling a fast growing startup
  • Saas, Tech experience

What Sets You Apart
  • Significant experience leading People/HR functions in high-growth environments
  • Strong judgment and comfort owning high-stakes decisions with minimal direction
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and shape company culture
  • Deep experience across performance management, employee relations, and org design
  • Builder mindset - you enjoy creating systems, not inheriting them

Benefits
  • Health & Wellness: 100% employer-covered medical insurance for employees (75% for dependents), plus dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k): Retirement savings program to support your future
  • Paid Time Off: Dedicated time to reset and recharge plus most federal holidays
  • Parental Leave: Comprehensive leave policy for growing families
  • Meals: Lunch in office 2x week + select meals covered throughout the week
  • Fitness: Monthly movement stipend
  • Equity & Career Growth: Early exercise eligibility and a strong focus on professional development
  • Annual Compensation Reviews: Salary and equity refreshes based on performance
  • Boomerang Program: After two years at Range, you can take time away to start your own company. We'll hold your spot for 6 months - and pause your equity vesting, which resumes if you return

Range is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We are committed to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status. As a company, we are committed to designing products, building a culture, and supporting a team that reflects the diverse population we serve.
