Job description

WHAT YOU WILL DO EVERYDAY

As the Manager, Commercial Lending, you will serve as a playercoach leader responsible for both direct commercial lending production and daytoday leadership of Commercial Lender I–IV roles. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Lending, you will execute the commercial lending strategy by cascading goals, managing performance, coaching lenders, and ensuring consistent execution of credit quality, portfolio management, and member experience standards.

You will maintain a reduced personal commercial loan portfolio while prioritizing team leadership, operational execution, and talent development. This role is critical to translating strategic objectives into consistent results across the commercial lending team.

Direct Reports: Commercial Lender I, II, III, IV,

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

30%            Lead, coach, and develop Commercial Lender I–IV team members to drive consistent production, portfolio quality, and member experience. Cascade annual goals, production targets, and key initiatives from the Head of Commercial Lending into actionable team and individual objectives. Conduct regular pipeline, portfolio, and performance reviews to ensure accountability and early risk identification. Support hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of commercial lending talent. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team.

25%            Maintain oversight of team loan portfolios to ensure proper risk ratings, covenant compliance, and adherence to credit policy. Serve as an escalation point for complex credits, portfolio concerns, and member issues. Partner with Credit Analysts, Lender Support Specialists, and Commercial Operations to ensure accurate underwriting, documentation, and closing. Ensure lending decisions are executed within delegated authority and policy guidelines.

20%            Manage a smaller personal commercial loan portfolio while maintaining strong credit quality and member relationships. Originate, underwrite, and close commercial loans within delegated authority. Actively cultivate and maintain relationships with key commercial members and centers of influence. Model bestinclass lending, portfolio management, and member engagement practices for the team.

15%            Support teambased business development efforts, prospecting campaigns, and referral generation. Participate in commercial community involvement, networking events, and member appreciation activities. Partner with the Head of Commercial Lending on market expansion initiatives and relationship strategies.

10%            Ensure consistent execution of lending processes, tools, and reporting across the team. Assist with training initiatives, policy rollouts, and change management efforts. Complete required compliance and professional development training. Other duties as assigned.

--                 Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws, and regulations, including but not limited to, the Credit Union Secrecy Act, the USA PATRIOT Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

Experience

5+ years of progressive experience in commercial lending, including preferred 5+ years in leadership roles.

Education / Certifications / Licenses

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, or related field required or years of experience in lieu of a degree. MBA or equivalent preferred. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

ADA REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

·        Able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.

·        Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

·        Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.

·        Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.

·        Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management.

·        Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

 

Working Conditions

-  Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
