Picasso Restaurant Group is seeking an experienced and driven Head Chef to lead culinary operations at the University of MichiganFlint cafeteria. We are looking for a passionate culinary professional with strong leadership skills and the ability to execute high-end food production in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Position Overview

The Head Chef will oversee all back-of-house operations, menu execution, food quality, staff leadership, and kitchen performance while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all kitchen operations
  • Facilitate high-end, high-volume food production and service
  • Execute both upscale catered events and daily caf meal service
  • Develop and execute creative, quality-driven menus
  • Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff
  • Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation standards
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and food cost controls
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with management to improve operations and guest satisfaction

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Head Chef role
  • Proven experience in high-volume food service environments
  • Experience with both catering and cafeteria-style service preferred
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
