How much do hcpc jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 31, 2026, the average hourly pay for hcpc in the United States is $20.52, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $17.55 and $22.60 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the HCPC and what does it do?

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is a regulatory body in the United Kingdom that sets standards for health and care professions. It ensures that professionals such as physiotherapists, radiographers, and paramedics meet required standards of training, conduct, and competence. Registration with the HCPC is mandatory for practitioners in certain roles, and it helps protect the public by maintaining a register of qualified professionals. The HCPC also handles complaints and takes action if professionals do not meet its standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an HCPC-registered healthcare professional?

To thrive as an HCPC-registered healthcare professional, you need a relevant accredited degree, HCPC registration, and a strong grasp of clinical practices within your specialty. Familiarity with electronic patient record systems, diagnostic or therapeutic equipment, and continuing professional development requirements is typically expected. Strong communication, ethical integrity, and patient-centered care distinguish exceptional practitioners. These competencies ensure safe, effective practice and compliance with regulatory standards, directly impacting patient outcomes and public trust.

What are some common challenges faced by HCPC-registered professionals when starting a new role in the UK healthcare sector?

Newly HCPC-registered professionals often face challenges such as adapting to the specific policies and procedures of their employer, understanding multidisciplinary team dynamics, and keeping up with detailed record-keeping and compliance standards. Many also find balancing clinical duties with ongoing professional development and supervision requirements to be demanding at first. However, most organizations provide structured induction programs, mentoring, and peer support to help new staff transition smoothly and build confidence in their clinical and administrative responsibilities.

What is the difference between Hcpc vs Physical Therapist?

AspectHcpcPhysical Therapist
CredentialsCertification through CPC or similar coding credentialsDoctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) license
Work EnvironmentHealthcare settings, billing departmentsClinics, hospitals, rehab centers
Industry UsageMedical billing, coding, insurancePatient care, rehabilitation

Hcpc (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System) primarily involves medical coding and billing, whereas a Physical Therapist focuses on patient rehabilitation and treatment. While both work within healthcare, Hcpcs professionals handle coding and insurance claims, and Physical Therapists provide direct patient care. Understanding these differences helps clarify career paths and job roles in healthcare settings.
