Job description

Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital, as well as a clinic system with primary care clinics located in Minneapolis and across Hennepin County. The comprehensive healthcare system includes a 473-bed academic medical center, a large outpatient Clinic & Specialty Center, and a network of clinics in the North Loop, Whittier, and East Lake Street neighborhoods of Minneapolis, and in the suburban communities of Brooklyn Park, Golden Valley, Richfield, and St. Anthony Village. Hennepin Healthcare has a large psychiatric program, home care, and operates a research institute, philanthropic foundation, and Hennepin EMS. SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking a Staff Nurse to join our Operating Room team.
This position is a 0.8 FTE (8 shifts/ pay period), 8-hour shifts, Day/ Night rotating shifts, Every 4th Weekend, On-Call per unit policy.
The Operating Room (OR) has 21 full service OR suites capable of providing service to a variety surgical specialties including General, Pediatric, Neurosurgical, Orthopedic / Podiatric, Ophthalmologic, Gynecological, Ear Nose and Throat, Oral / Maxillofacial, Dental, Reconstructive Plastic / Burn, Cardiovascular, Urologic, and Trauma. In addition to these major surgical areas we have two vascular access rooms and two minor surgery suites. The OR, in combination with Vascular Access and Minor Surgery areas, performs over 11,000 surgical procedures per year totaling nearly 1,200,000
surgical minutes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within the context of the Hennepin Healthcare System Patient and Family Centered Care model, and under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care by:
  • Protecting, promoting, and optimizing health
  • Preventing illness and injury
  • Alleviating suffering through the treatment of the human response
  • Partnering with the patient, their family and significant others
  • Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 years of recent OR circulating experience as a RN (held a permanent OR position within the last 2 years).
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in area of clinical specialty
  • BSN Preferred. Bachelor of Nursing degree is strongly encouraged. Advancement in academic education will be discussed as part of individual professional development during the annual performance review.
