Job description

Role Summary

A government-focused technology organization is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support secure mission-critical network and laboratory environments within a Department of Defense (DoD) setting.

This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure across Windows and/or Linux environments. The position supports virtualization platforms, containerized workloads, automation initiatives, and cybersecurity compliance requirements while ensuring reliable system performance and availability.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting enterprise systems in secure environments and possess an active Top Secret security clearance. Candidates may come from either a Windows administration or Linux administration background, and certification support is available for qualified individuals who do not currently hold advanced platform-specific certifications.

Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure Administration & Support
  • Plan, deploy, maintain, and support enterprise server infrastructure.
  • Administer Microsoft Windows Server and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Support Active Directory, enterprise storage, and core infrastructure services.
  • Manage virtualization platforms and virtual server environments.
  • Support containerized workloads and application hosting platforms.
Automation & System Optimization
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and/or Bash.
  • Implement system improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor infrastructure health and proactively address performance concerns.
  • Assist with system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management activities.
Security & Compliance
  • Ensure systems remain compliant with DoD cybersecurity requirements and security standards.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of DISA STIG requirements.
  • Participate in vulnerability remediation and security hardening initiatives.
  • Maintain secure system configurations and operational readiness.
Operations & Troubleshooting
  • Provide Tier II infrastructure support and resolve escalated technical issues.
  • Troubleshoot server, virtualization, storage, and network-related incidents.
  • Support mission and laboratory environments requiring high availability and reliability.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and operational changes.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • 5+ years of enterprise systems administration experience.
  • Experience administering either:
    • Microsoft Windows Server environments, or
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, virtualization, and system administration activities.
  • DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+) or ability to obtain/maintain as required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in enterprise environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
  • Microsoft Windows Server certifications.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Nutanix.
  • Experience supporting container technologies including Docker or Podman.
  • Experience with infrastructure and security tools such as:
    • Rubrik
    • InfoBlox
    • LogRhythm
    • Tanium
    • SCCM/MECM
    • Microsoft Intune
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or other highly regulated environments.
Compensation & Work Model
  • Employment Type: Full-time, direct hire.
  • Work Model: 100% onsite.
  • Location: Southern California military installation environment.
  • Schedule:
    • Week 1: Monday–Friday
    • Week 2: Monday–Thursday
    • Provides a three-day weekend every other week.
