Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Service Manager to oversee day-to-day food & beverage service at The MC Hotel in Montclair, NJ. The MC Hotel has three venues--Allegory, a breakfast, lunch, and dinner restaurant; Splendid, a rooftop bar; and a banquets & catering operation that hosts events of all sizes.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations including cleanliness, organization, revenue opportunities and staffing
  • Provide exceptional guest service, thereby setting the standard for all employees
  • Train, coach and develop all front-of-house employees through ongoing feedback and the establishment of performance expectations

  • Ensure restaurant and bar is in complete compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations

  • Meeting and greeting customers and organizing table reservations.

  • Organizing and supervising the shifts of hourly front of house staff

  • Maintaining high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety.

  • Work cooperatively with other hotel departments, including front desk, events/sales, housekeeping, engineering, etc.
  • Ensure strong execution of private events in the hotel's various venues and spaces


Competencies and Skills Required

  • At least 1 year of restaurant management experience in a high-volume setting

  • Experience working in a multi-venue establishment preferred

  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills

  • Good understanding of useful computer programs (Toast, OpenTable, Harri, Canva)

  • Experience running and managing banquet & catering events, preferably in a hotel environment
  • Availability to work nights and weekends
