Job description

We’re looking for a Growth Analyst who operates at the intersection of data, publishing, and communication.

This isn’t a reporting role. You’ll own analytical projects end-to-end – forming hypotheses, designing and running experiments, translating findings into decisions, and influencing outcomes across editorial, sales, and leadership. You’ll be expected to question and alleviate assumptions, identify evidence-based solutions and cultivate them throughout the business.

If you want to build technical credibility and strategic influence at the same time—and see your work change what happens in the market—this is the role.

Strategic Mindset & Critical Thinking

  • Identify what questions are worth asking—not just how to answer them
  • Challenge analytical assumptions; push back when the data doesn’t support the narrative
  • Connect title-level findings to catalog-level patterns and propose strategic moves
  • Think across projects simultaneously—bring structure to ambiguous problems and know when to escalate

Testing & Experimentation

  • Design and execute end-to-end market tests and product experiments
  • Maintain a rigorous, consistent testing cadence with documented hypotheses and outcomes
  • Translate successful test results into scalable, business-wide practice

Analysis Translation & Communication

  • Turn data into decisions—connect analytical findings to concrete business outcomes
  • Translate messy business questions into structured analytical approaches
  • Develop insights that set strategy for the business: clear, actionable, no noise

Hands-On Analytical Work

  • Query and interrogate large structured datasets directly using SQL
  • Build repeatable, documented analytical workflows that others can trust and build on
  • Stay ahead of AI and generative AI tools—identifying where LLMs, automation, and prompting create real leverage

Publisher & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and sustain working relationships with publishing partners across the organization
  • Surface, document, and follow through on optimization opportunities raised through those partnerships
  • Keep cross-functional partners—editorial, sales, leadership—informed with clear, timely communication

Essential

  • Self-starter who takes ownership of work end-to-end
  • Hands-on experience with generative AI tools; prompt-writing a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field—or equivalent work experience
  • 2–3 years of hands-on analytical experience
  • Strong SQL skills and advanced Excel proficiency
  • Comfortable working with cross-functional partners and communicating findings to non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with marketing and sales funnels, KPIs, and optimization strategies
  • Able to design and interpret basic experiments—reasoning about variance, bias, and directional vs. causal confidence

Strongly Desirable

  • Python for analysis and automation
  • Experience integrating LLMs into data or automation workflows
  • Familiarity with digital marketing channels and how to measure them
  • Background in publishing, media, or e-commerce
  • Experience with pricing optimization or managing large product catalogs

We know great candidates don’t always meet every requirement. If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply.

Why This Role

  • Real influence—your work shapes how the team thinks, tests, and drives outcomes across the entire business
  • A seat at the table with publishing, sales, editorial, and leadership from day one
  • Variety—no two weeks look the same
  • A team that moves fast, values judgment, and expects you to grow into more
  • The stability of a 200-year-old institution with the pace of a startup

HarperCollins Publishers is a company full of people who are passionate about books.  When you apply for a position, we want to know why you want to work here, and why you are interested in the job. That’s why cover letters are strongly preferred.

The salary range for this position is $80,000-$95,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.

In addition to cash compensation, the company provides a comprehensive and highly competitive benefits package, with a variety of physical health, retirement and savings, caregiving, emotional wellbeing, transportation, and other benefits, including "elective" benefits employees may select to best fit the needs and personal situations of our diverse workforce.

HarperCollins Publishers is an equal opportunity employer.

HarperCollins Publishers is committed to providing reasonable accommodation for qualified individuals with disabilities, in our job application and/or interview process. If you need assistance or accommodation in completing your application, due to a disability, email us at TalentManagement@harpercollins.com. Note: we will only respond to accommodation requests.
