Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and assign tasks for dock planning and setup
  • Observe loading and unloading of trucks for proper handling and distribution of freight while ensuring timely delivery
  • Supervise operations, procedures, and freight movement
  • Enforce all safety measures regarding freight balance for safe truck operation
  • Ensure compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations
  • Train new dock employees and provide feedback, coaching, and discipline as needed in partnership with the Operations Manager
  • Create and maintain a teamwork-oriented environment
  • Coordinate drivers and assign trucks and delivery routes
  • Maintain equipment and facilities for effective, clean, and safe operations Perform other duties as assigned

Skills, Experience, and Educational Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in LTL freight, logistics, or transportation
  • 2 years of freight handling experience; LTL environment preferred
  • Proven leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills (AS/400 and Microsoft Office preferred)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials preferred
  • Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred
  • Previous warehouse or related experience strongly preferred
  • Forklift experience required
  • Basic English proficiency (reading, writing, and verbal) required
