Material Handler I

Job Summary: The Material Handler I is responsible for the flow of raw materials in Lighthouse Louisiana's Production warehouses.

The Material Handler I will be responsible for the following core job duties:

  • Ensure the flow of raw materials into, and finished products out of, their assigned department.
  • Inspect products to identify and report possible defects.
  • Operate material moving equipment as required.
  • Palletize and label finished product as assigned.
  • Shrink wrap finished goods as assigned.
  • Maintain the required output levels as specified by the department supervisor.
  • Adhere to the Lighthouse safety plan by utilizing safe workplace practices and immediately report all injuries, accidents, near misses, emergencies, and safety hazards to the appropriate Lighthouse official.
  • Work and coordinate within the product flow of the department and coordinate all activities with the supervisor.
  • Conduct all business in a positive, relationship-building manner at all times.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with Lighthouse's ISO Quality System procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications:

  • Education: High school or GED preferred.
  • Special Knowledge: Organizational skills; ability to multi-task.
  • Experience: Pallet jack operation heavily preferred.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
  • Physical: Able to perform duties as required by department and function, able to stand for long periods and perform repetitious work; ability to maneuver 500 lbs. continually throughout the day. Able to travel throughout the facility to safely and effectively manage all work responsibilities, breaks, and emergency evacuations, with or without a reasonable accommodation. Able to manage all self-care needs, and activities of daily living as required to support successful employment, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Personality: Dependable, motivated, organized, detail-oriented, people-oriented; ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Working Conditions: Inside and outside, warehouse.
  • Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours, overtime as needed/ Non-Exempt.
  • Background Check and Drug Testing Required: Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results.
