Material Handler I
With continual growth comes opportunity and Sargent has an immediate opening for a Material Handler I. The person in this role will support the warehouse/stockroom and be responsible for inventory records including counting, storing, records comparison, and rotating stock in the warehouse or stockroom daily.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety is the foundation of daily work through vigilance and accountability.
- Stocks and issues materials or supplies.
- Able to handle pressure smoothly and productively.
- Handle unexpected challenges with a positive outlook.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Less than 2 years general knowledge of warehouse/stockroom environment.
- Must have basic math skills, read pick lists, data printouts, bills of material and other documents. Accuracy of data entry, accounts and record keeping is essential.
- General knowledge of warehouse/stockroom procedures.
- Must be computer literate. Intermediate a plus.
- Must be detail-oriented with good mathematical abilities.
- Must be able to bend and lift 40 lbs.
- Must have ability to work as a team member to achieve the company's quality and production standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to work with production employees and managers.
- Strong organization skills, self-starter with initiative and ability to work with minimal.
- Must be flexible with overtime and weekends, as necessary.
- Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position.
This role is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), which requires the incumbent to be either a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident ["green card" holders] or have refugee or asylee status. Non-US Citizens may be restricted from certain programs.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous Warehouse Experience in a Military, Commercial or Medical environment.
- Operate Manual and Electric Power Pallet
- Power tool knowledge (Rotating saw, hand saw, hammer, drills).
Working Conditions:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to safely move about in a variety of work environments, from office to manufacturing floor, and other.
- Ability to remain on a manufacturing shop floor for extended periods, while meeting specified safety requirements (i.e., vision protection, foot/toe protection, and others as appropriate).
- Detail oriented - good vision is necessary to make decisions on the acceptability of product.
