Schedule & Pay:
1st Shift: Monday-Thursday 5:00 AM - 3:15 PM ; Friday & Saturday OT hours vary

Job Summary:
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating the belt sander to sand flat panel materials to meet quality specifications and production schedules.
Job Duties:
  • Sets up sander assuring height and pressure settings are correct and adjusts if needed.
  • Prioritizes work by job number, green slip or OCS.
  • Loads & unloads parts form sander and inspects for quality.
  • Deals with defects by re-sanding, puttying and hand sanding.
  • Sands edge tape on box parts and flat panel doors.
  • Creates green slips for parts which must be remade.
  • Adjusts computerized machine settings as needed to enable machine to sand specialty component parts/wood species.
  • Performs final inspection of cabinet parts per job to verify quality of product produced.
  • Performs special sanding, i.e. knife blocks, paint removal, etc.
  • Brings product issues and material concerns to manager to ensure meeting production needs.
  • Ensures optimum machine performance by performing various machine maintenance operations such as cleaning machinery, changing sand paper, checking part thickness or depth of cut with various quality measurement tools such as calipers or depth gauges.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation in the timely completion of daily/weekly assignments.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the various wood species and can differentiate between them.
  • Makes fundamental mathematical calculations and reads measurement devices, i.e. tape measure, etc.
  • Fills in other areas as needed.
