A hair assistant works in a salon under the supervision of a hairstylist. Your duties as a hair assistant are to help the hairstylist style their client, greet incoming clients, maintain the cleanliness of the salon, mix shampoo and other hair products, and assist with other service offerings. Job Responsibilities
As a Hair Stylist Assistant, you will perform operational support to the Hair Stylist team.
Your specific duties in this role will include:
• Welcome clients from the waiting area and guide them to the designated area to prepare for their hair service.
• Assist Hair Stylists by performing various duties including; drape clients following proper technique, wash and blow out hair, apply stain remover to clients around the edge of hair and scalp in preparation for color application
• Maintain knowledge of proper treatment methods as well as the dangers and limitations of any chemical being used.
• Promote retail sales of hair products and other spa retail products.
• Prepare station set-up for clients, complying with all sanitation procedures.
• Perform opening and closing side work per checklists.
• Perform services in the pre-determined time scheduled while maintaining appointment timeliness.
• Stock supplies and maintain organization and neatness in Spa Dispensary, color mixing room and back bar.
• Provide information pertaining to hours and available services of the Spa and hotel, i.e. restaurant, lounge, room service.
• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the Salon including regularly sweeping and surrounding areas.
Job Requirements
We are looking for a self-motivated Hair Stylist Assistant with a strong work ethic and a drive to exceed expectations. It is also important that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to establish rapport with guests and colleagues.
Specific qualifications for the role include:
• 3 to 6 months related experience and/or training; One year certificate from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must maintain a valid New York State Cosmetology License.
• Exceptional customer service skills
