Job description

Hadassah is seeking an experienced, strategic, and collaborative leader to serve as Managing Director of Hadassah Mid-Atlantic, overseeing a dynamic geographic area that stretches from eastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey to Washington, D.C.

The Managing Director will provide leadership and operational oversight while partnering closely with regional presidents, volunteer leaders, staff, and national colleagues to advance Hadassah’s mission. This role is responsible for guiding strategic planning, strengthening member engagement and fundraising efforts, managing and developing staff, supporting financial and operational processes, and building strong relationships throughout the community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong, collaborative relationship with the region presidents and other volunteer leaders in support of Hadassah’s goals and mission
  • Provide strategic and goal-driven support to region presidents and boards in devising and carrying out an annual business plan to expand and promote fundraising and engagement
  • Implement procedures and technology for project support, marketing and finance as required
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of Hadassah Mid-Atlantic
  • Supervise Hadassah Mid-Atlantic staff, delegating tasks and projects as appropriate, to deliver professional and supportive experience for members and volunteers
  • Support the geographic area financial processes in conjunction with the Geographic Area Finance Operations Manager and Geographic Area Finance department and volunteers. Follow established processes for approval and oversight responsibilities to maintain proper controls for banking and operations
  • Collaborate with Managing Directors across the country and National staff to create a consistent and positive experience for Hadassah members
  • In partnership with volunteer leaders, represent Hadassah in coalitions and events, to enhance Hadassah’s image and presence in the greater community. Build community partnerships for Hadassah programs, as appropriate
  • Attend in-person Region meetings and events including major local and national conferences.
  • Special projects and training as needed
  • Other duties as required

Required Knowledge, Education, Experience

  • BA degree with 6 - 8 years of management experience
  • Proven experience managing teams in dynamic environments
  • Experience working collaboratively with volunteers and building consensus among diverse groups
  • Experience with developing grassroots communities

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of membership engagement, fundraising and social media
  • Proficient with budgeting, financial oversight, and implementing cost-effective measures
  • Experience in managing change and driving organizational priorities
  • Skilled at strategic planning and operations management
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multitasking
  • Able to travel and to work some weekends and evenings
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented, organized and proactive
