Job description

Looking for a 1st Shift CNC Machinist role where you can put your skills to work on precision, custom parts?

Great Lakes Industrial Knife is hiring an experienced CNC Machinist to set up, program, and operate Haas CNC mills and Walter grinding machines. You’ll manufacture industrial knives, blades, rotors, and custom wear parts using high-hardness tool steels and carbide.

What You’ll Do
  • Set up, program, and operate Haas CNC mills and Walter grinders
  • Machine and grind materials such as D2, M2, A2, and carbide
  • Read blueprints and Engineering drawings
  • Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators
  • Hold tight tolerances, often within ±.0005"
  • Edit G-code and machine programs at the controller
  • Safely move heavy materials using fork trucks and jib cranes
  • Support safety, LEAN, and 5S initiatives
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience
  • Haas and/or Walter machine experience preferred
  • Experience machining or grinding hardened tool steels
  • Strong blueprint-reading and precision measurement skills
  • Knowledge of feeds, speeds, grinding wheels, and coolant management
  • High school diploma or technical machining certification
