Why join Elyria Plastic Products?

Elyria Plastic Products is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist who can set up, program, and troubleshoot precision CNC equipment.

This is a day-shift opportunity for a machinist who understands the entire machining process—not just loading parts and pressing cycle start. You’ll interpret prints, establish tooling and workholding, make programming or process adjustments, inspect finished parts, and help improve how work moves through the shop.

EPP has been manufacturing custom components for more than 40 years. Its capabilities include precision CNC machining, injection molding, and in-house mold making. The company works with metals and engineered plastics for customers across medical, healthcare, aerospace, and other industrial markets.

The machining department includes recognizable equipment from Mori Seiki and Haas, including CNC turning centers with live tooling, Y-axis capability, and subspindles.

⚙️ What you’ll be doing

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and other machining equipment
  • Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, and sample parts
  • Determine machining sequences, setup requirements, dimensions, and tolerances
  • Select and install cutting tools, fixtures, workholding, and accessories
  • Set speeds, feeds, offsets, coolant flow, and depth of cut
  • Enter, retrieve, and edit CNC programs as required
  • Monitor machining operations and troubleshoot malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions
  • Inspect completed parts using micrometers, indicators, and other gauges
  • Work with engineering, production, and programming personnel to resolve technical issues
  • Design and manufacture fixtures, tooling, and experimental components
  • Recommend process changes that improve efficiency, consistency, or setup time
  • Perform routine cleaning and lubrication of machines and tooling

️ Machines, controls & inspection equipment

  • Monday–Friday day shift
  • More than 40 years in business
  • CNC turning and milling under one roof
  • Live-tooling and multi-axis machining capabilities
  • In-house mold making and injection molding
  • Work for medical, healthcare, aerospace, and industrial customers
  • Opportunity to contribute to tooling and process improvements
  • Benefits available after 60 days
  • PTO and paid holidays available after 90 days

✅ What we’re looking for

Required:

  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience
  • CNC machine setup experience
  • CNC programming or program-editing experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Understanding of machining sequences, speeds, feeds, offsets, and tooling
  • Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using shop math
  • Experience inspecting parts with micrometers, indicators, and other gauges
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, climb, and move throughout the workday

Preferred:

  • CNC programming, manufacturing, or engineering certification or degree
  • Experience with Mori Seiki or Haas equipment
  • Live-tooling, Y-axis, or subspindle experience
  • Fixture and tooling design experience
