About HERO:
HERO is an immersive entertainment and cultural destination located in Rockefeller Center, blending technology, storytelling, retail, food & beverage, and live experiences. We are seeking a highly organized Retail Manager to oversee the day-to-day retail operations during our busiest operating season.
This is a hands-on operational role with a strong emphasis on back-of-house retail management, inventory control, fulfillment, and logistics while also ensuring an exceptional guest shopping experience. The ideal candidate is process-driven, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where organization and execution are critical.
Role Overview:
The Retail Manager will own the operational health of HERO's retail business, ensuring inventory accuracy, efficient stock movement, timely receiving and replenishment, and seamless day-to-day retail operations. Working closely with Operations, Finance, and Guest Experience teams, this individual will establish and maintain best practices for inventory management while leading retail staff during operating hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Retail Operations
  • Oversee the daily operation of HERO's retail store, ensuring a clean, organized, and guest-focused environment.
  • Manage opening and closing retail procedures.
  • Ensure merchandising standards are consistently maintained and product displays remain stocked and visually appealing.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to continually improve retail workflows and guest experience.
Inventory Management
  • Own all inventory management processes from receipt through sale.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and perform regular cycle counts and full physical inventories.
  • Monitor inventory levels and proactively identify replenishment needs.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain inventory records and reporting with a high level of accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain organized back-of-house storage systems.
Shipping & Receiving
  • Manage all inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Receive deliveries, inspect merchandise for accuracy and quality, and reconcile packing slips against purchase orders.
  • Coordinate vendor deliveries and communicate shipment issues as needed.
  • Prepare outbound shipments including transfers, returns, and special orders.
  • Maintain organized documentation for all shipping and receiving activity.
Retail Logistics & Operations
  • Coordinate product replenishment from back-of-house to the sales floor.
  • Partner with Finance on inventory reporting and reconciliation.
  • Support new product launches and seasonal merchandising transitions.
  • Assist in establishing operational SOPs for retail inventory and logistics.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of merchandise.
Team Leadership
  • Supervise and support retail associates during operating hours.
  • Assist with scheduling and daily staffing coordination.
  • Train team members on POS procedures, inventory handling, and retail standards.
  • Foster a collaborative, guest-first culture.
Guest Experience
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve guest concerns professionally.
  • Support retail sales initiatives and drive revenue through excellent product knowledge.
  • Ensure transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • 3-5+ years of retail management or retail operations experience.
  • Available to work on-site at our space in Rockefeller Center
  • Strong experience with inventory management and inventory control systems.
  • Experience managing shipping, receiving, and retail logistics.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Comfortable lifting and moving merchandise (up to 50 lbs).
  • Experience using POS and inventory management platforms.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience within museums, attractions, hospitality, entertainment, or experiential venues is highly preferred.
