How much do h2b visa jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 5, 2026, the average yearly pay for h2b visa in the United States is $72,474.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $48,000.00 and $75,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the H2B Visa position, and why are they important?

An H2B Visa is not a job title, but rather a type of temporary work visa in the United States for non-agricultural roles. Therefore, there are no specific core skills, technical tools, or certifications tied to the role of 'H2B Visa.' Soft skills and qualifications depend entirely on the specific position being filled under the H2B Visa program, such as groundskeeping, hospitality, or construction work. The requirements for success will vary according to the actual job performed by the visa holder, rather than the visa status itself.

What types of jobs are typically available for workers on an H2B Visa?

Workers on an H2B Visa often find employment in seasonal or temporary roles that are non-agricultural, such as hospitality staff, landscapers, hotel housekeepers, amusement park attendants, and construction laborers. The specific job opportunities depend on employer demand for labor during peak seasons, such as summer resorts or winter maintenance operations. These roles can offer valuable work experience and exposure to different industries in the United States, and some employers may provide on-the-job training or support for workers. If you are considering answering a job listing as an H2B Visa applicant, be sure to read the job description closely for any required skills or certifications for the specific role.

What jobs qualify for a H-2B visa?

H-2B visas are available for temporary non-agricultural jobs in industries such as hospitality, landscaping, construction, seafood processing, and tourism. These jobs typically require seasonal, intermittent, or one-time work, and employers must demonstrate the need for foreign workers and that no qualified U.S. workers are available. Skills and certifications vary depending on the specific job type.

How to get a H-2B work visa?

To obtain a H-2B work visa, employers must file a temporary labor certification with the U.S. Department of Labor, demonstrating that there are insufficient U.S. workers available for the position. Once certified, the employer submits a petition to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and the foreign worker applies for the visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate, often requiring proof of job offer, qualifications, and compliance with program requirements.

What is an H2B Visa job?

An H2B Visa job is a temporary, non-agricultural position in the U.S. for foreign workers. Employers hire H2B workers for seasonal or peak-load needs in industries like hospitality, landscaping, and construction. Workers must be sponsored by a U.S. employer and meet specific eligibility requirements. The visa is typically granted for up to one year but can sometimes be extended.

Where can I find H-2B jobs?

H-2B jobs are typically advertised on federal and state government websites, as well as on job boards that specialize in seasonal or temporary work. Employers often post these positions on industry-specific sites, and job seekers can also find opportunities through recruitment agencies that handle H-2B visa sponsorships.

How much do H-2B workers get paid?

H-2B workers are paid at least the prevailing wage for their job and location, as determined by the Department of Labor. Employers must ensure wages meet or exceed this standard, which varies depending on the industry and region, and often includes additional benefits or overtime pay for extended hours.
