How much do h 2b visa jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 29, 2026, the average yearly pay for h 2b visa in the United States is $72,474.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $48,000.00 and $75,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What types of jobs are commonly available under the H-2B Visa program, and what should applicants expect from these positions?

The H-2B Visa program is primarily used by employers seeking temporary, seasonal employees in industries such as hospitality, landscaping, construction, amusement parks, and seafood processing. Applicants can expect to work in physically demanding roles that may require standing for long hours, working weekends or holidays, and adapting to changing weather conditions depending on the industry. Teamwork and effective communication are often essential, as many H-2B jobs involve collaborating closely with others to complete daily tasks. These positions are a great opportunity for individuals seeking international work experience and the chance to develop new skills in a structured, supportive environment.

What is an H-2B Visa job?

An H-2B Visa job is a temporary, non-agricultural position in the U.S. for foreign workers. These jobs typically include roles in hospitality, landscaping, construction, and other seasonal industries. Employers must prove there are not enough U.S. workers available and that hiring foreign workers will not negatively impact local wages. The visa is valid for up to one year, with possible extensions up to three years.

How much do H-2B workers get paid?

H-2B workers are paid at least the prevailing wage for their job and location, as determined by the Department of Labor. Employers must ensure wages meet or exceed this standard, which varies depending on the industry and region, and often includes additional benefits or overtime pay if applicable.

What is the 3 year rule for H-2B?

The 3-year rule for H-2B visa holders states that an individual cannot be admitted in H-2B status for more than three years within a four-year period. After reaching this limit, they must leave the U.S. for at least one year before applying for another H-2B visa, ensuring temporary employment and compliance with visa regulations.

How to find a sponsor for a H-2B visa?

To find a sponsor for a H-2B visa, employers must submit a job offer to the U.S. Department of Labor and obtain a certified temporary labor certification. Employers typically advertise the job to demonstrate that there are no qualified U.S. workers available before filing a petition with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Job seekers should look for employers participating in the H-2B program or contact staffing agencies that specialize in temporary seasonal work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the H 2B Visa position, and why are they important?

H-2B Visa roles typically require candidates to possess relevant work experience or skills for seasonal, non-agricultural jobs such as hospitality, landscaping, or construction, along with the ability to meet physical job demands. Familiarity with workplace safety standards and, in some cases, basic proficiency with hand tools or equipment is helpful. Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to communicate effectively with team members are highly valued soft skills. These qualifications ensure that workers can integrate smoothly into fast-paced environments and contribute to operational success in temporary roles.

What jobs qualify for a H-2B visa?

H-2B visas are available for temporary non-agricultural jobs such as hospitality, landscaping, construction, seafood processing, and seasonal tourism roles. These jobs typically require specific skills or training and are limited to seasonal or peak periods when U.S. employers demonstrate a lack of available U.S. workers.
