Job Summary
The Rotating Equipment Engineer position provides technical expertise and recommendations for rotating equipment mechanical integrity, repairs, and reliability improvements. Responsible for maintaining the safe operation and reliability of the refinery rotating equipment by applying standard engineering principles, theories, concepts, and techniques in providing solutions to a variety of rotating equipment problems that develop during operation, maintenance repair and/or turnarounds, as well as performing root cause failure analysis in order to make recommendations for equipment that will eliminate the causes for equipment unreliability.
Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other related engineering degree.
    • Five years or more of direct experience working as a Rotating Equipment Engineer in a refinery or petrochemical plant.
    • Familiarity with relevant industrial standards related to rotating equipment and monitoring equipment/system (ASME, API, PIP, ANSI)
    • Practical knowledge of API standards and industry best practices
    • Ability to manage assigned projects under limited supervision.
    • Microsoft Office proficiency.
    • Valid Driver's License.
    • Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker's Identification Credential).

    Preferred Skills:
    • Vibration Analysis Level II Certification
    • Familiarity or experience with API 610 and 682 for centrifugal pumps and mechanical seals
    • Experience with performing RCA
    • Experience applying Cause Mapping Technique
    • Familiarity or experience with SAP
    • Familiarity or experience with standard for critical equipment repairs, and monitoring

Job Duties
  • Provide rotating equipment engineering reliability support to refinery operations and maintenance for the purpose of improving safety, environmental compliance, mechanical availability and reducing long-term maintenance costs.
  • Provide rotating equipment maintenance support to refinery operations and maintenance to plan, schedule, troubleshoot and repair rotating and reciprocating equipment in accordance with industry accepted practices.
  • Utilize condition monitoring tools such as vibration, oil analysis, and operational data for recommending corrective actions, in addition to performing failure analysis of equipment.
  • Develop and implement ideas, initiatives, and programs to improve unit performance, increase equipment reliability/availability, and reduce rotating equipment maintenance costs.
  • Utilize API standards and Industry Best Practices for analysis and recommendations.
  • Analyze and determine appropriate spare parts and quantity for Rotating Equipment.
  • Support and mentor less experienced Rotating Equipment engineers.
