Job description


Summary:

As an equipment engineer, you will support daily operations, troubleshoot equipment issues, and enhance equipment efficiency and operational reliability through design updates or PLC programming. You will document equipment issues and create documentation related to equipment troubleshooting and maintenance. As your experience grows, responsibilities will also include supporting the development of fellow engineers, such as providing training on control systems and sharing equipment knowledge with new engineers and technicians. Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn are the most significant factors contributing to your success in this role.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage activities related to the installation of new equipment.
  • Understand battery equipment and perform test runs as needed to make necessary quality adjustments.
  • Complete equipment‑related production work orders and provide troubleshooting and corrective actions
  • Develop and integrate equipment improvements into production lines (PLC Logic modifications, line redesigns, etc.)
  • Monitor equipment performance after improvements and verify effectiveness
  • Analyze OEE data to assess breakdown frequency and daily production up time and prepare reports for BM and yield.
  • Mentor and train other engineers and technicians on the Battery manufacturing process, safe work practices and accurate documentation of production, repair, and machine maintenance history.
  • Complete routine documentation and support basic audit tasks required for the role.
  • Follow established work instructions, SOP, and company policies
  • Always adhere to workplace safety protocols, use full and proper PPE, and LOTO Procedures. 
  • Comply with general and position-specific dress code requirements
  • Participate in, and successfully complete, all training requirements
  • Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required
  • Maintain cleanliness at work site in accordance with5S3R Standards:
    • Sort, set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
    • Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; motivated applicants from non‑engineering backgrounds may also be considered.

Experience:

  • Experience installing, modifying, analyzing, repairing, and testing equipment as well as analyzing breakdown data or working with PLCs can be helpful, but it is not required.
  • Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or industrial environment will be considered in lieu of full-time experience

Work Authorization:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Skills:

  • Experience with 2D/3D equipment design software
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Comfortable interacting with both internal and external customers
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours to support production operations as needed
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate in Korean or Chinese is helpful for certain tasks, but not required
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and strong motivation to learn

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to 12 hours:

  • Safety glasses
  • Steel-toed shoes
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Ear protection
  • Cleanroom suit

Must be able to perform the following activities repeatedly for periods of up to 12 hours:

  • Lift, push, and pull materials or equipment
  • Stoop, twist, and bend
  • Reach overhead
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods
  • Use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems

Work Environment:

  • Work may involve handling or working in proximity to hazardous materials and regulated industrial chemicals.
  • Exposure to chemical vapors, dust, or other controlled substances may occur depending on process assignment.
  • Strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA Hazard Communication requirements is mandatory.
  • Employees must properly wear and maintain assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times within designated areas.
  • Required PPE may include respirators, chemical-resistant garments, gloves, eye protection, face shields, or other equipment determined by process and risk assessment.
