Job description

Job Title: Structures Technician Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE- Al Dhafra Air Base Purpose and Scope: This is a temporary 90 contract position in Abu Dhabi to maintain and repair structural components to include pre-engineered permanent, semi-permanent and temporary facilities such as tension fabric shelters, trailer offices, lodging and water closets, metal ladders, stairs, railings, and structures for air conditioning units to support the mission on Al Dhafra Air Base in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP). Essential Responsibilities: • Install, maintain and repair all assigned doors, structural components, roofing systems, floor systems, foundations, gutter systems and surface coverings.
• Perform metal and fabric repair, fabrication work, welding support to include oxy/acetylene cutting, corrosion control, pavement painting and striping, and form work for concrete.
• Remodel, refurbish or demolish existing facilities.
• Install, maintain and repair protective coatings, sealants, epoxies, glues, paints and fencing.
• Major building interior finish repairs, such as the replacement or repair of acoustic ceiling tile and sheetrock ceilings and walls.
• Perform Carpentry installation / repairs to include:
 Whole Door Replacement
 Door handles, hinges, and closers  Flooring repair (to include any sub floor)
 Any interior facility repairs
 Drywall repair (from replacing to finish, mud, sand, paint, etc.)
 Repair/Replace any roofing materials
• Perform Masonry installation / repairs to include:
 CMU (Concrete Masonry Units)
 Brick construction
 Tile applications from beginning to end
 Concrete Forms
• Perform Sheetmetal installation / repairs to include:
 Duct work.
 Metal patchwork (not including ducts)
 Rollup doors
• Perform Welding installation / repairs to include:
 Welding
 Cutting
 Blazing
• Perform TFS (Tension Fabric Systems) installation / repairs to include:
 General knowledge on tent systems Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent training/experience. • Minimum 3 years of experience in the field of construction. • Ability to read and write English is required.
• Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills. • Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team. • Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment. • Possess a valid state issued driver’s license and passport. • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate US Government Clearance level. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance. • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment. • Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
• Working conditions in over 100-degree Fahrenheit conditions. • Frequently lifts items weighing 40-45 pounds and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds. • Frequently climbing to over 12 feet and using lifts to access over 24 feet to perform job functions.
• Working with manual and electrical hand tools. • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud or unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.
• Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions. • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
