How much do guest contributor jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 23, 2026, the average hourly pay for guest contributor in the United States is $19.25, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $13.46 and $21.63 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a guest contributor?

Guest contributors are individuals who write articles, blog posts, or other content for publications, websites, or blogs where they are not a regular staff member. They typically provide unique perspectives, expertise, or experiences that add value to the host platform’s audience. Guest contributors may be invited or may pitch their ideas for consideration, and their work is usually published with credit to their name. This arrangement benefits both the contributor, who gains exposure, and the host, which receives fresh content.

How does a guest contributor typically collaborate with editorial teams during the article submission process?

As a Guest Contributor, you'll usually work closely with editors throughout the submission and revision process. After submitting your draft, editors may provide specific feedback or request clarifications to align your work with their publication's standards and audience needs. Open communication and timely responses are important, as revisions are often iterative. This collaborative effort ensures your piece meets editorial guidelines and maintains the publication’s voice, while also allowing you to share your expertise effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a guest contributor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Guest Contributor, you need strong writing skills, subject matter expertise, and the ability to research and synthesize information, often supported by a relevant degree or portfolio of published work. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO best practices, and basic image editing tools is typically expected. Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to accept feedback gracefully are important soft skills for standing out in this role. These skills ensure that contributed content is engaging, accurate, and aligned with the publication’s standards, helping build credibility and audience engagement.

What is the difference between Guest Contributor vs Content Writer?

Employer & Industry UsageUsed across media, blogs, and online platformsCommon in marketing, publishing, and digital media
Search & Comparison IntentLooking to contribute as a guest to various platformsSeeking employment or freelance work as a content creator

In summary, a Guest Contributor primarily provides content to external platforms without a formal employment relationship, often on a freelance basis. A Content Writer typically produces content as part of a company's or client's team, with a focus on consistent, ongoing writing tasks. Both roles involve writing skills, but their work environments and objectives differ significantly.

How do I find guest contributor posting opportunities?

Guest contributors can find posting opportunities by researching websites in their niche that accept guest content, using search queries like 'write for us' or 'contribute' combined with relevant keywords. Networking with editors and content managers on professional platforms or industry forums can also reveal opportunities. Building a portfolio of writing samples and understanding submission guidelines improves chances of acceptance.

Job description

Description:

Job Title: Front Desk & Hotel Operations Contributor

The Residence Inn by Marriott Prescott is seeking a friendly, dependable, and versatile Front Desk & Hotel Operations Contributor. This position is hired primarily for the Front Desk and serves as a key point of contact for our guests. The contributor will also be cross-trained in other hotel disciplines, including public-area attendant duties, laundry, housekeeping support, and guest-room cleaning.

Our cross-training approach creates more consistent service for our guests, improves teamwork between departments, and gives associates opportunities to develop a broader understanding of hotel operations. Although Front Desk responsibilities remain the primary focus, contributors must be willing and able to assist in other departments based on occupancy, staffing, and operational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional, and personalized service.
  • Complete guest check-ins, checkouts, reservations, room assignments, and payment processing.
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to guest questions and requests.
  • Explain hotel amenities, services, Bonvoy benefits, and local-area information.
  • Monitor guest requests and follow through to ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records, shift reports, cash-handling procedures, and Front Desk communications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready lobby and Front Desk area.
  • Communicate effectively with Housekeeping, Maintenance, Breakfast, and hotel leadership.
  • Deliver guest supplies, linens, towels, and other requested items.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining the lobby, hallways, elevators, restrooms, entrances, patio, pool area, and other public spaces.
  • Assist with collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and stocking hotel laundry.
  • Support the Housekeeping department by stripping rooms, removing trash and used linen, restocking supplies, and performing other assigned duties.
  • Learn proper guest-room cleaning procedures and assist with cleaning rooms when trained and operationally necessary.
  • Follow all hotel sanitation, chemical-use, safety, security, emergency, and lost-and-found procedures.
  • Complete required Marriott, company, and departmental training.
  • Perform other reasonable duties based on hotel and guest needs.
Job Requirements
  • Prior hotel, Front Desk, customer-service, retail, or hospitality experience is preferred but not required.
  • Friendly and professional demeanor with a genuine desire to help guests.
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and reliable transportation.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn hotel systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities while remaining calm and professional.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained and work in Front Desk, public areas, laundry, and Housekeeping.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain guest confidentiality and follow cash-handling and security procedures.
  • Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning products and personal protective equipment after training.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build hospitality experience beyond a traditional Front Desk role. The ideal candidate is service-focused, flexible, and willing to step in wherever needed to help the team provide a clean, welcoming, and dependable experience for every guest.

Residence Inn by Marriott Prescott and Ponderosa Hotel Management are equal opportunity employers. Employment decisions are made without regard to any status protected by applicable law.
