Job description

About AfterQuery
AfterQuery is an applied research lab curating data solutions for foundation model development.
We serve every frontier AI lab with the mission of delivering the best data to power the best models. In doing so, we can make expertise that once took a lifetime to build available to anyone who needs it. Our customers are the ones building the foundation models themselves and our work sits directly in the loop of how those systems improve.
This is a rare opportunity to join a company at a defining moment in AI. Since raising our $30M Series A at a $300M valuation, AfterQuery has grown well over a $100M revenue run rate.
We're based in San Francisco and backed by leading investors including Altos Ventures, BoxGroup, and Y Combinator and angels from Google DeepMind, OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta Superintelligence Labs, and Microsoft AI.
Why Apply
Massive Opportunity:
We were one of the fastest-growing YC companies in our batch, and we believe we can become one of the fastest-growing YC companies of all time.
Founding Impact:
You will own and architect core infrastructure systems that power our platform from the ground up.
Equity & Growth:
Competitive salary and meaningful equity. As we scale, you'll have the opportunity to shape the engineering organization and lead major technical initiatives.
Strong Team:
Our founding team has experience from Citadel Securities, Meta, Google, Silver Lake, and Morgan Stanley - work alongside world-class engineers and researchers.
Overview
AfterQuery is hiring a GTM (Go-to-market) Operations Lead to power the throughput of our revenue engine. Sales Ops at AfterQuery is accountable for the machinery behind every deal and for metrics like close rate and time-to-close. You will work alongside Engagement Managers (EMs), taking end-to-end ownership of the execution layer of that machine so the team can spend more time with customers.
This is a role for someone who can switch altitudes. In a single day you might reconcile an invoice, rebuild a pipeline dashboard, assemble the data package for a frontier-lab RFI, and then step back and propose how to automate the whole workflow so it never needs manual touch again. The work can be unglamorous, but is mission-critical in equal measure, and you'll be judged on throughput, accuracy, and how much of your own job you make disappear.
You won't inherit a mature RevOps stack. You'll inherit a fast-moving one (e.g., Attio for CRM, Ramp for billing, an internal data and analytics site) and a mandate to make it hum. Bonus points if you architect the future, improving our sales process and building infrastructure to 10x our business without increasing manual burden.
Responsibilities
Architect CRM and pipeline hygiene. Keep deal records, stages, and dashboards accurate and current; run the execution layer of deal management and dashboarding so leadership always has a trustworthy pipeline view and EMs are held accountable.
Standardize how we pitch and sell. Partnering with EMs and delivery leads to codify a repeatable sales process to optimize for quality and velocity.
Own analytics & attribution. Track deal pipeline, sales attribution, and ROI on sales events (conferences, dinners, etc.). Build forecasting and reporting to tell us what's working.
Drive RFI and inbound request responses. Gather, format, and assemble dataset materials and data-site outputs for customer RFIs with speed and attention to detail.
Run contract-to-cash execution. Manage invoicing and accounts-receivable follow-up with our Accounting team, and support contracting, documenting process for future team members.
Own and automate the sales stack. Identify and set up whatever tools the team needs to succeed - lead-gen, outreach, and beyond - then partner with ops and engineering to automate the manual work out of it, so your scope gets more strategic over time.
Own follow-ups and triage. Track and execute first-touch follow-ups from conferences and customer meetings; triage website inbound so qualified lab conversations reach the right person fast; facilitate clean hand offs between Sales and other teams so nothing drops between a closed deal and delivery.
Design customer engagement cadences. Consult with EMs and client delivery leads to learn, then automate project status and customer-facing updates to drive project outcomes.
Build strategic customer collateral to drive outcomes. Maintain and improve customer-facing data offering and product updates, and build effective suite of materials to enable our customer engagement team.
What we're looking for
5-7+ years of experience in sales operations, revenue operations, business operations, banking/consulting, or a similarly execution-heavy, analytical role; you've built sales or revops from 0 to 1, and/or have grown a similar team at a fast-growing startup.
Proven high-volume execution: you can run ten workstreams in parallel, keep every ball in the air, and your error rate stays near zero. Detail is not a chore for you; it's a reflex.
Altitude switcher: equally comfortable doing data entry at 9am and proposing a process redesign at 3pm. Neither phases you.
Systems thinking: you have strong opinions on a revenue tech stack, and learn AI-native tools fast (CRMs like Attio/Salesforce/HubSpot, billing systems, spreadsheets at an advanced level). You instinctively look for automation.
Strong communicator: you're a storyteller with numbers - i.e. clear, concise customer-facing updates, internal status reports, and clean documentation informing action.
High agency, low ego. You don't wait to be assigned; you see the gap, close it, and iterate.
Comfortable in a 5-day in-office SF environment that prizes speed, direct feedback, and rapid context-switching.
Preferred Qualifications
You've worked in or around AI, data, or developer-facing products and can speak credibly about datasets and model training.
You've built automations (Zapier/Make, scripts, CRM workflows) that eliminate a recurring manual process.
Exposure to contracting, procurement, or AR processes at a B2B company.
