What is a GTM engineer?

A GTM (Go-to-Market) Engineer is a professional who bridges the gap between technical product development and commercial teams. GTM Engineers work closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to ensure new products or features are successfully launched and adopted in the market. They help translate technical capabilities into customer benefits, provide technical expertise during sales cycles, and may assist with product demonstrations, solution architecture, and customer feedback. Their goal is to accelerate product adoption and support revenue growth through technical enablement.

What are some typical challenges a GTM engineer faces when integrating new products into existing sales and marketing workflows?

A GTM Engineer often encounters challenges such as aligning technical product features with the needs of the sales and marketing teams, ensuring seamless data flow between tools (like CRMs and marketing automation platforms), and translating complex product capabilities into clear value propositions. Additionally, they must anticipate and resolve compatibility or scalability issues that could impact go-to-market strategies. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and maintaining open communication is key to overcoming these hurdles and ensuring successful product launches.

What do Gtm engineers do?

GTM (Go-to-Market) engineers develop and implement technical solutions to support product launches, sales strategies, and marketing campaigns. They often work with tools like CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, and analytics software to ensure seamless integration and data flow. Their role involves collaboration with sales, marketing, and product teams to optimize go-to-market processes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a GTM engineer?

To excel as a GTM Engineer, you need a solid background in software engineering, product management, and business acumen, often with a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, cloud services, APIs, and analytics tools is commonly required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help bridge technical and business teams effectively. Mastering these areas ensures successful product launches, customer satisfaction, and alignment between technical solutions and market needs.

Job description

We're hiring a GTM Engineer to bring in more qualified demand and raise the efficiency of our go-to-market motion. You'll own the technical systems that turn buyer intent into booked, qualified pipeline across our revenue teams - closing the tech lag in our funnel, getting far more out of HubSpot, and building the connective tissue across our GTM stack.

This is a builder's role. The data is already at our fingertips; today it's under-used. Your job is to make it work - routing, automation, intent signals, and the reporting that tells us where to push next.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and build GTM systems and workflows in HubSpot and across the stack - intent signaling, lead routing, scheduling, speed-to-lead.
  • Improve our tech stack implementation, and expand our use of HubSpot Marketing & Sales Enterprise.
  • Build nurture and follow-up automation across the funnel.
  • Build skills and a knowledge bank using Claude.
  • Run day-to-day data enrichment, lead scoring, and data hygiene.
  • Support attribution and reporting - build the shared model and dashboards.
  • Audit and consolidate the GTM tool stack to remove sprawl, and support the team with workflows and data-integrity SLAs.
  • Produce insights and analysis on our GTM motions and where to improve them.
Key QualificationsWhat we're looking for
  • A builder's mindset. You've personally built tech-forward GTM motions - routing, lifecycle, automation, integrations - in a major CRM/automation stack (HubSpot, Salesforce, or equivalent). You build the systems; you don't just brief an agency.
  • HubSpot, day one. HubSpot is our core engine and your primary tool from the start; deep HubSpot mastery is a strong plus.
  • Tech industry experience (SaaS not required).
  • Buyer-intent & funnel fluency. You read intent signals and funnel conversion, and you tie systems work to revenue outcomes.
  • ~2-4 years of hands-on GTM engineering / RevOps / marketing- or sales-ops building experience.
  • Based in the Chicago metro (this is a hybrid, in-office-first role).
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, or a closely related field
Nice to have
  • HubSpot Marketing & Sales Enterprise depth (admin/architect level).
  • SQL / Python / APIs; Clay or other enrichment tooling.
  • Intent platforms (Warmly, 6sense, Common Room) and built AI agents / Claude workflows.
  • Owned an attribution model and dashboards, or consolidated a bloated tool stack.

Benefits

We're driven by purpose, fueled by high energy, and backed by venture funding. We're unapologetically ambitious - and we make sure everyone has the support to do the best work of their career. We believe the best work happens when good people are in the room together, so we're a hybrid team built around our downtown Chicago office.

What we offer:

  • A team of smart, kind people building technology that solves real-world problems
  • An environment where your input carries weight and your growth comes first
  • Competitive salary: $110K-$150K commensurate with experience OTE tied to targets
  • Flexible PTO
  • Work-from-anywhere days
  • Generous parental leave
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) + matching
  • Regular team events and offsites
  • An equipment budget - whatever you need to do your best work
  • Continuing education, mentorship, and career development
