Are you mechanically inclined, hands-on, and looking for a long-term career in the HVAC industry? GSM Services is seeking a dedicated, safety-conscious, and trainable HVAC Installer to join our growing team.
Job Overview
As an HVAC Installer at GSM Services, you'll be responsible for commercial HVAC installations, adhering to industry standards and company expectations for safety, performance, and quality.
Skill Levels & Responsibilities
Level I: Foundational Installer Skills
  • Demonstrate excellent motor and listening skills
  • Climb an 8 ft. ladder safely and work with both hands free
  • Operate cordless drills and install screw chucks
  • Join pipe with #8 x ¾ screws and accurately mark/measure using a tape
  • Identify split system components:
    • Condenser, Evaporator, Furnace, Thermostat, Flue, Condensate Lines, Fuel Lines, Refrigerant Lines
  • Build and install condensate traps (Part # Trap 1), PVC drains, and condensate pumps
  • Install flex duct to collar and smoke detectors
  • Use and understand PPE and crane hand signals
Level II: Intermediate Technical Ability
  • All Level I tasks, plus:
  • CSST Certification
  • Wire thermostats and HVAC units
  • Read model numbers and determine system tonnage
  • Pass apprentice competency and plan symbol tests
  • Demonstrate knowledge of GSM installation standards
Level III: Advanced Installer/Mechanic Prep
  • All Level I & II tasks, plus:
  • Read/interpret mechanical drawings and equipment manuals
  • Use and explain a ductulator
  • Size gas piping per mechanical code
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of mechanical code
  • Pass wiring symbol test
  • Lead projects in team leader's absence
  • Work toward obtaining GSM Journeyman Card (required for Mechanic-level advancement)
  • Can build a condensate trap per Part # Trap 1
  • Drains-pvc on package units, condensing furnaces

Position Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License (clean driving record)
  • Neat appearance and compliance with uniform standards
  • Exceptional punctuality, attendance, and professional attitude
  • Ability to read/write at a high school level
  • Training or ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings
  • Must own a starter tool set plus higher-end tools
  • Powder Gun & AWP Certifications required (or ability to obtain)
