Procurement - Category Strategy Manager

Salary - $40-42 per hour

Type: Contract / 4 Month with perm potential

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Procurement - Category Strategy Manager to support a 4 month, project based engagement within a mature procurement organization. This role plays a key part in driving sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and measurable cost and value improvements. The Category Manager will balance independent project work with cross functional collaboration to deliver results aligned with business objectives.

In this role, you will lead full lifecycle sourcing initiatives, manage supplier relationships, and contribute to contract development, pricing strategies, and negotiations. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to evaluate opportunities, manage performance, and support cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives while maintaining operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

โ€ข Lead strategic sourcing projects including RFx development, bid evaluation, supplier selection, and contract negotiations

โ€ข Develop and execute category strategies that support cost savings, cost avoidance, and rebate enhancement goals

โ€ข Partner cross functionally with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and align sourcing strategies

โ€ข Conduct pricing, contract, and financial analysis to support sourcing and negotiation decisions

โ€ข Manage supplier relationships, performance metrics, and ongoing KPI monitoring

โ€ข Facilitate and participate in meetings with internal partners and external vendors

โ€ข Support ad hoc procurement initiatives and provide administrative and documentation support as needed

Key Requirements

โ€ข 4 to 6 years of category management or procurement experience

โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent professional experience

โ€ข Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing concepts and supply or service contract structures

โ€ข Proven negotiation skills with the ability to communicate financial value and impact

โ€ข Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI

โ€ข Experience with Supplier Relationship Management practices

โ€ข Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills with solid planning and organizational abilities

Preferred Qualifications

โ€ข CPM, CPSM, or CPSC certification
