Job Summary
Summary: The Grounds Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the daily operations, maintenance, and cleanliness of assigned parking structures, parking lots, sidewalks, campus grounds, and other exterior facilities. This position oversees grounds personnel to ensure university facilities are safe, clean, attractive, and operational for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Grounds Supervisor manages parking structure cleaning, pressure washing operations, campus event support, snow and ice removal, and biohazard response activities. The position ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, university policies, environmental standards, and departmental procedures while promoting a culture of safety, customer service, and operational excellence. This role reports to the Grounds Specialist Senior regarding all operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan, assign, supervise, and evaluate the daily work of grounds personnel.
  • Develop work schedules and prioritize assignments to ensure efficient completion of daily, seasonal, and emergency operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of parking structures, sidewalks, parking lots, and campus grounds to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness.
  • Train employees on proper equipment operation, safety procedures, customer service expectations, and departmental policies.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, direction, and performance feedback.
  • Maintain employee attendance records, work schedules, equipment logs, inspection reports, and daily activity documentation.
