) Maintenance Assistant
Location: Newton, IA
A skilled nursing setting in Newton, IA is seeking a Maintenance Assistant. This role performs a variety of maintenance, light cleaning, organizing duties, and may include resident transportation duties when applicable. A clean driving record is required.
Shift Available
  • Full-Time (Monday-Friday, occasional on-call required)

Responsibilities
  • Maintain facility by repairing walls, baseboards, doors, ceilings, mirrors, windows, and removing trash
  • Move furniture to complete assignments
  • Coordinate maintenance services with nursing staff in resident care areas
  • Outdoor maintenance and grounds work including maintaining landscaping and snow removal.
  • Follow maintenance schedules and supervisor instructions in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work
  • Maintain grounds, parking areas, and driveways including cutting, trimming, sweeping, and general upkeep
  • Replace burned-out light bulbs, including exit and overhead lighting
  • Support preventive maintenance program for machinery and equipment
  • Transport residents safely to and from appointments as needed, following all transportation safety regulations
  • Assume on-call responsibilities as scheduled, including weekends and holidays
  • Respond to unscheduled or emergency maintenance needs as directed

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in maintenance, cleaning, or related fields preferred
  • Familiarity with cleaning materials and equipment
  • Clean driving record required for transportation duties
