About the Position

Groome Industrial Service Group is seeking an EHS Specialist; the position requires someone who is motivated, creative, compassionate, knowledgeable, and respectful. The EHS Specialist needs to be able to frequently work without direct supervision. This person must be able to work as a team with company management, operations staff, administrative support personnel, customers, government representatives, and contractor staff. This person needs the capacity to mentor workers in the field in a spirit of cooperation and guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and reinforce our safety culture in the workplace
  • Build relationships that inspire cooperative safety efforts
  • Conduct Safety meetings
  • Inspect job sites frequently to audit/mentor worker compliance with the EHS program
  • Prepare new hires for entry to the workplace
  • Conduct and/or coordinate EHS training for workers and maintain records of training
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government entity, customer, and company regulations
  • Evaluate the EHS program, its effectiveness, and suggest improvements where necessary
  • Perform root cause analysis of all incidents and suggest corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Keep current on EHS trends, OSHA standards, ATF regulations, and other applicable regulation changes through continuing education and peer networking
  • Draft project specific JHA's and HASP's
  • Assist Risk Management with information gathering and other various tasks
  • Assist Compliance department with the administration of Third-Party Administrators for Contractor Compliance
  • Leverage new technology when possible
  • Perform other EHS related duties as necessary

This is a full-time, non-exempt position based in North Texas. It should be expected that there will be a requirement to respond to various operational issues that come up outside of normal business hours.

What does it take to work for Groome Industrial Service Group?

  • HS graduate or GED
  • Clean MVR
  • 3+ years of direct, full time EHS experience within the Construction Industry (preferably in specialty trades and electrical power generation
  • Professional EHS certifications preferred (CHST, OHST, CSHO, CSSP, CSP, ASP, etc.)
  • Must be able to work remotely and be willing to travel across the US and internationally as required
  • Current TWIC, Driver's License, and Passport (or ability to obtain a TWIC and passport within the first 3 months of employment)
  • Practical experience with adult learning teaching practices
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively address complex matters
  • Organized and self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Competent in Microsoft Office with an ability to adapt to changing technology

Physical Requirements

  • Able to climb ladders and stairs frequently
  • Able to lift (up to 50 lbs.) as needed
  • Ability to wear full-face APR respirator
  • Ability to drive company vehicle
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment (e.g. MAWP, forklift, etc.) or ability to obtain certifications within first 3 months of employment
  • The ideal candidate would have experience with Heavy Equipment Operations and would be English/Spanish bilingual.
