Job description

The Grinding Specialist is responsible manual grinder operation, setup, and maintenance. 

   Key Responsibilities 

  • Execution of precision flat or rotary grinding of steel weldment and cast components to precision tolerances.
  • Perform maintenance as required for manual flat and rotary grinders including but not limited to wheel changes and magnetic chuck resurfacing.
  • Interpret and execute grinding operations on a manual flat grinder from detailed design prints/drawings indicating flat, parallel, and perpendicular surfaces.
  • Interpret and execute grinding operations on a manual rotary grinder from detailed design prints/drawings indicating round and concentric bores/diameters.
  • Execute basic milling, cutting, or other machining tasks as required.
  • Update Issue Tracking Log (ITL) in a timely manner to support GMS product non-conformance
  • Ability to paint castings on an as needed basis
  • Maintain documentation for ISO 14001 and Safety programs

 Background and Skill

  • High School Diploma with preference of having additional Trade School (Tool maker, CNC Operation, Precision Grinding Operation as example etc) and/or Associates Degree in Technical Discipline  
  • 2 - 5 years operation of manual grinding equipment
    1. Equivariant experience in operation of general machining equipment to be considered
  • Experience in holding precision tolerances on manual flat or rotary grinding equipment preferred.
