Job description

Salary: $20

JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for setting up and tending grinding machines in order to remove slag from parts to be sent to press
brake operators or welders.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determine grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used
  • Use proper wheel guards on all grinding machines
  • Mount flap disks; Check flap disks and belts for wear
  • Inspect and maintain grinding equipment for conformance with safety regulations
  • Lift or hoist workpieces
  • Correct issues related to safety before performing operations
  • Prioritize production runs to maintain production schedules
  • Ensure optimum machine performance by changing worn flap disks and belts as needed
  • Inspect all finished parts for imperfections and overall quality
  • Sort and stack finished parts on pallets; Place filled pallets in designated spot
  • Resolve quality and mechanical problems; Repair minor issues/adjust equipment as needed
  • Complete lock out/tag out procedures as required by OSHA
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise and call technical support as needed
  • Clean grinder and work space daily; Organize work space; Scrap all non-usable parts
  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The
noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle,
feel, or hold objects. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop,
kneel, crouch, climb, crawl or balance. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is
occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
