Greenville Utilities Commission is searching for an entry to mid-level engineer to fill the Gas Engineer I/II position within the Gas Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing various analyses of the gas system utilizing present network analysis software; working with engineering and operations staff on the design and code compliance of the gas distribution system; and assisting staff with the planning and execution of projects for the gas distribution system, liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility, compressed natural gas (CNG) facility, cathodic protection and supervisor control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. The successful candidate will report to the Gas Distribution Engineer.

Skill in the operations of computer equipment including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) CADD (AutoCAD or ProgeCAD) and GIS (ArcGIS and ArcFM suite) software, and excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

Gas Engineer I

Salary Range: $80,808.00 - $128,502.40

Anticipated Hiring Range: $80,808.00 - $104,603.20

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Up to and including one year of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (B.S. Engineering or Engineering Technology)
  • Must have or be able to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within the six-month probationary period.
Gas Engineer II

Salary Range: $96,012.80 - $152,609.60

Anticipated Hiring Range: $96,012.80- $124,300.80

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Over one year up to and including four years of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (B.S. Engineering or Engineering Technology)
  • Must have or be able to obtain North Carolina Professional Engineer's certification within the six-month probationary period.

Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday โ€“ 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
