The Department of Religion and Philosophy at Bethel University (IN) is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty member in New Testament and Greek starting August 2026. This position requires a full-time physical presence on campus in Mishawaka, Indiana.
The Religion and Philosophy Department features programs in Christian Ministries (with concentrations in Biblical Studies, Children's Ministry, Christian Ministries, Sports Ministry, and Youth Ministry), Pastoral Ministries (BA/MA), Worship Arts, Intercultural Studies, and Philosophy along with a minor in Biblical Languages.
- The successful candidate will teach and develop coursework in New Testament and Greek in response to departmental needs and his/her area(s) of expertise, as well as advise students in the Christian Ministries major, particularly those with a Biblical Studies concentration.
- The candidate is expected to engage in professional service and scholarly activities.
- Ideal candidates will demonstrate teaching excellence, exhibit enthusiastic interest in mentoring students, and possess an interest in working collaboratively in the Christian liberal arts setting.
- Normal faculty duties include 12 hours of undergraduate teaching per semester as well as departmental and professional responsibilities (including program assessment).
Required: Candidates should have a Ph.D. in New Testament or Biblical Studies.
- All interested candidates are invited to submit a cover letter, a current curriculum vita, and a statement of educational philosophy.
- As a Christian liberal arts institution, Bethel University desires that its faculty possess a vibrant Christian faith and an understanding of how that faith integrates with their discipline. Therefore, candidates are also required to submit a brief statement of faith and a statement on the integration of faith and learning.
Bethel University is a Christian Liberal Arts institution affiliated with the Missionary Church. Faculty in the Department of Religion and Philosophy are required to affirm annually the following:
- the Articles of Faith and Practice of the Missionary Church, (https://mcusa.org/constitutionaldocs), and
- faithful membership/involvement in a local church that is aligned with Bethel's statement of faith and lifestyle expectations.
