POSITION OVERVIEW

The Vinyl Graphics Technician supports Gable's manufacturing operations by preparing, producing, and finishing vinyl graphics and related printed materials in accordance with work orders, production layouts, and quality standards. This role is responsible for setting up and running production files and equipment, preparing substrates, labeling and distributing finished parts, and properly disposing of scrap materials.

This position works closely with the Graphics Team Lead and cross-functional production teams to ensure work is completed accurately, safely, and within allocated project hours. The Vinyl Graphics Technician is expected to maintain a clean and organized work area, communicate production or inventory concerns, and follow all applicable safety and quality procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following list of functions for this position is not a limitedly defined list. Additional tasks may be required on the job that are not listed below. The list below serves as a guide for the essential functions that are expected from this position by Gable: 

Production Setup and Equipment Operation

  • Review work orders, layouts, drawings, and production specifications to understand job requirements before beginning work.
  • Import, size, and prepare production files in Composer or other applicable production software.
  • Set up and operate digital printers, plotters, laminators, and related production equipment in accordance with job requirements and quality standards.
  • Load raw materials, run cut files, label completed parts, distribute finished materials to the appropriate areas, and properly dispose of scrap.

Vinyl Fabrication, Finishing, and Quality

  • Follow layouts to place computer-generated vinyl or full-color graphic images on designated substrates, media, or surfaces.
  • Prepare substrates for vinyl application, including cutting, cleaning, laminating, masking, and other required production steps.
  • Weed excess vinyl from computer-cut graphics and perform laminating, mounting, and finishing tasks as assigned.
  • Measure materials before and after production to verify accuracy, alignment, color quality, and finished appearance.
  • Perform assigned work within allocated project hours while maintaining Gable's quality standards and production specifications.

Team Communication, Inventory, and Safety

  • Report inventory levels, material shortages, and stock reorder needs to the Graphics Team Lead.
  • Assist with unloading raw materials and moving materials to the appropriate storage or production areas.
  • Communicate production issues, labor needs, equipment concerns, or quality problems to management in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cross-team communication to support job flow, scheduling, and handoffs between production areas.
  • Comply with OSHA, MOSH, and company safety procedures, including required PPE, and maintain a clean, safe, organized, and disciplined work environment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in graphics, sign production, printing, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in vinyl graphics production, sign fabrication, large-format printing, or preferred a similar production environment.
  • Ability to read work orders, layouts, drawings, measurements, and production specifications accurately.
  • Hands-on experience with vinyl cutting, weeding, masking, laminating, mounting, and application techniques.
  • Familiarity with large-format printers, plotters, laminators, hand tools, and basic production equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality standards, color accuracy, alignment, and finished appearance.
  • Ability to measure, cut handle, and apply vinyl graphics to a variety of substrates and surfaces.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with design or production software such as Adobe Illustrator, Onyx, Flexi, or similar programs preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new materials, equipment, an installation new methods.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required PPE in production or installation environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires frequent hands-on production work in a manufacturing environment. The team member must have manual dexterity to operate production equipment, hand tools, and computer systems, along with visual acuity (with correction) and the ability to speak and hear effectively.

The position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, including shifts of up to twelve hours when needed, and to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive production tasks. The team member must be able to frequently lift or move materials weighing between 10 and 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role operates primarily in a manufacturing and shop environment. The team member may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, production equipment, industrial materials, dust, fumes, and moderate to high noise levels.

Frequent shop noise may be loud, and hearing protection or other personal protective equipment may be required. Appropriate PPE must be worn when required in production, shop, or installation environments.
